Just curious.. why do people buy these instead of a cheaper z97 M/B like this one?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00K9R1OCW?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_sfl_title_3&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

(I'm new to hardware)

Z97 here:

AsRock : 82 euro
Gigabyte: 92 euro link
MSI PC MATE: 93 euro link

I was considering msi but it isn't the MSI that people generally buy (the gaming version)
H97 here costs just 5 euro less then Z version so there is no point to pick up a H-mobo :(

Also edited my SO, it will be linux ubuntu, not sure if can add problems with the mobo

u/ant2555 · 2 pointsr/bapcsalesuk

yeah why would you want a z97?

also could anyone explain why it is worth more than say: amazon link

u/domdomegg · 1 pointr/buildapcsalesuk

I went with the Z97 motherboard you suggested in the same line of thought and it's great if you're thinking of getting one. Generally I really like Gigabyte and MSI products, seem high quality to me with decent prices. Asus's warranty is a bit flakey, but I suppose if buying through Amazon you're fine.

Edit:
Sorry I kinda didn't really answer your question, I think it's also about particular features that people prefer and are willing to sacrifice the chipset for. Eg. more USB 3.0 ports, better OCing, hardware control

Is this mobo good? I dont know what to looking for searching for a good mobo for Intel Haswell.
u/Ruthus1998 · 1 pointr/battlestations

ive never played overwatch haha. My FX 6300 makes games stutter a lot and i beleive im meant to have a solid 60+ FPS at 1080p with my GTX 970 :)

Wondering if this would be an okay motherboard: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00K9R1OCW/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

u/Nizatron · 1 pointr/HardwareSwapUK

I have an i5 4460 and a GIGABYTE GA-Z97-D3H.

Edit: Motherboard is this model: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00K9R1OCW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Would be looking for £40 for the motherboard and £110 for the CPU roughly.

u/Wadge · 1 pointr/buildapc

Ok, so if I were to replace the Mobo, GPU and CPU with the below, would that fit in with the components I already have?

Intel i5 4590 Quad Core CPU (3.30 GHz, 6 MB Cache, 84 W, Graphics, Turbo Boost Technology, Socket 1150)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00K5J22GG?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_3&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

Gigabyte Z97P-D3 Intel LGA1150 Z97 ATX Motherboard
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00K9R1OCW?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_4&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

Sapphire AMD Radeon R9 380 Nitro 4 GB GDDR5
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B016EY8JMG?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_5&smid=A1IUZRVRQUH0V6

Are these good choices?

u/sx2l · 1 pointr/buildapc

It looks like this is one of the best boards for the price. The only other Haswell Refresh boards in this price range are this Gigabyte one, which is also Z97 and this MSI H97 one that's out of stock right now. Are either of those other options good?

u/constantino1 · 1 pointr/buildapc

eh, 4790k costs the same as a 7700k, but the ram point is valid. Maybe you are not in the US which can affect costs.

So of the 3 chips you listed, you definitely want the intel and you would want a Z97 mobo like this one

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00K9R1OCW/?tag=pcpapi-20

u/X_E_N · 1 pointr/buildapc

Oh, I assumed I could just pick up a mobo like this one and job done, no?

u/KristenK · 1 pointr/buildapc

How is this one? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gigabyte-Z97P-D3-LGA1150-Motherboard-USB3-0/dp/B00K9R1OCW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1416863765&sr=8-1&keywords=z97

Also not entirely sure on overclocking. My friend said to get the 4690k CPU as it will be good later on if I did want to overclock it. Is it relatively simple to do/ safe?

u/Sayakai · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

this would be just a little over.

this would be notably cheaper, but without the better audio.

u/Minigingernuke · 1 pointr/buildapc

Alright, this is why i checked first.
Would this motherboard work with everything else?
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Gigabyte-Z97P-D3-LGA1150-Motherboard-USB3-0/dp/B00K9R1OCW/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1473991504&sr=1-2&keywords=Intel

Any suggestions for anything else to replace?

u/Squebeb · 1 pointr/buildapc

Ah thanks. Glad I came here first before I made a stupid mistake! Like I said before, my knowledge of motherboards isn't the best; does this seem like it will do the job?

u/veny123 · 1 pointr/buildapc

I see, well I have no plans whatsoever to overclock so I will get a 4690 in that case, thanks a lot! And is http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gigabyte-Z97P-D3-LGA1150-Motherboard-USB3-0/dp/B00K9R1OCW/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1410431695&sr=1-2&keywords=z97+motherboard the same motherboard which you reccommended?

u/Dafman · 1 pointr/buildapc

Would this be an acceptable motherboard for an i5-4690k?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Gigabyte-Z97P-D3-LGA1150-Motherboard-USB3-0/dp/B00K9R1OCW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1465834692&sr=8-1&keywords=z97+motherboard

I'm kinda confused about the different numbers (Z97, H81 etc) but I think I need a z97 for overclocking, and that it will support more CPUs from the same intel generation than others
