> You may feel that cartridge razors aren't expensive, but, relative to DEs, cartridge razors are expensive.

'Cartridge razors' are not expensive relative to DE blades - as I said you can buy 100 Trac II/Atra Personnas for $13.

Are specific carts like the Mach 3/Fusion expensive relative to DE blades? Yes, they are. But the the way that DE shaving gets touted as some kind of huge saving over carts is ridiculous. Even at $147 a year it still breaks down to $2.80 a week. Barely enough to cover the cost of a coffee in Starbucks and that's with the most expensive cart on the market - if you used a Mach 3 it would work out at $95 per year/$1.80 per week. Go back even further to the Sensor and it will cost you $60 per year/$1.10 per week.

Isn't it time that we just admit to ourselves that we shave with DEs because well, we just like to shave with DEs and because some people find them to offer a better shave. Or are we just going to keep circle-jerking the same tired old mantras over and over again? Wet-shaving saves hundreds of dollars! Wet-shaving helps the enviroment! Two blades bad, one blade good!

if you use a double edge safety razor, it doesn't cost much. i mean sure you have to buy the razor... mine was like $70 for the razor and a stand and a mug. and the soap. i go through ~$13 worth every 3 or 4 months.

but then compare this to this. it's practically free by comparison.

and the shave's a lot better.

I usually try to buy bulk quantities at Amazon and do "Subscribe & Save" which saves you 15%. You just need to predict how often you'll need your blades. I use this for a lot of things.

These are some of the cheaper ones I found...

Plenty much more expensive out there...but you know - I am worth it.

I pay, after the subscribe and save discount, $1.88 per cartridge ($18.78 for a 10 pack). That's about 17% cheaper than yours which run $2.25 per cartridge.

Though, I'm also a Prime customer (for other reasons) so I don't pay shipping or anything, that might shift things around. (Edit -- No, never mind. Shipping is always free for the subscribe and save items.)

Edit 2 -- Also for people who need more blades, they go as low as $1.49 per cartridge if you get the 15 pack. I just don't go through fifteen cartridges in six months (which is the longest time span you can do on their subscribe and save).

Yeah, certainly i get my razors for free while your tampons cost an arm and a leg...
