I did this each month and started a month before birth. I had to buy a pack of pampers in between somewhere which I had a $5 off manufacture coupon I used and got even cheaper. I think $18 for a 200 pack or something.
There are literally man coupons everyweek through P&G and I forget the other one. Get them on sale... get them with extra coupons and man. coupons. There is no reason to spend a ton on them.
Also never needed special nighttime diapers. After about 4 months she never had a blowout. Right now she is almost 10 months and I have only ever bought the 1 pack in store and still have a whole box of the next size ready.
I did the same thing with wipes.
