I use an old projector right now to watch movies and hulu on the wall across my sofa, but the bulb has been going so I decided to get a TV. I couldnt afford one so to save up, I figured I could build the TV stand while I wait to have money.
A while ago, I built this coffee table so I wanted it to match.
The table is made from some lowes edge glued panel. Finished it with 3 coats of red mahogany stain and 5 coats of minwax polyeurathane, using steel 0000 steel wool between each coat to get out all the imperfections.

Some lessons learned:
Previously I used minwax polyshades for finishing (stain and poly in one). Compared to staining and poly separate, this is terrible. You have to be really careful brushing it on or the brush marks will make unrealistic looking grain patterns. You cant have as many coats as you would like since the piece will just look painted afterwards. A thick layer of polyeurathane will let you sand away at it without affecting the color of the wood so you can rub out a mirror finish no problem.
