Do yourself a favor and buy this spray dry lube for your chain. i bought after a seth's bike hacks video and it's really awesome stuff. it's pricey, but it should last a real long time, and i'm cleaning my chain WAYYYYY less after switching to a dry lube. that means it's better for components as less dirt & nasty stuff going through your drivetrain the better. If that's too pricey, find a cheaper dry lube? i still think it's a good investment, cost per application won't be high at all.
I use parktool polylube for just about everything else. I got it for free from my roommate. i tried some walmart brand before that and didn't like it as much. It's well-known and widely available. $10 a tube or something? buy that over some cheapo walmart-type brand i'd say
