Will allow local control if/when you want, plus can be tied into various cloud services. Even do both at the same time.
If your requirement is to not use cheap chinese junk electronics, you've got to give up most of everything on the planet. But I completely agree with you that the price of a POE RPi hat should have been marginal at best, considering you can buy complete POE camera's for 30 bucks.
