Giving examples for US, you could do search for your country:
Filter sand is for fluidized bed filters, not for substrate.
Usual sand is, for example, in Home Depot, any building materials supplier could have variety of them.
Black diamond sand was said to be available in tractor supply stores, could be somewhere else. Not in my country.
Aquarium supplies store sand.
Plant substrates are in separate section of aquarium supplies.
Good to know, thanks. Is there anything that won't affect my water chemistry much? I already have fairly hard water (13 dK, 18 dGH) and if this works well I will be using it with freshwater fish. Do you know if something like this worth buying, or is it just expensive sand?
