Yes, ethernet will be better. That said, what you should do is email help@resnet.rutgers.edu and complain. They changed the router policy claiming that there would be 100% coverage in the residence halls. If this is not true for you they should allow you to set up a personal router for wifi instead. I know some people who's entire building is essentially exempt from the no routers policy because the coverage is so bad. Even if you don't already have a personal router, they're cheaper than that ethernet adapter you mentioned, and then all your devices can have non-shit wifi.

stay away from netgear....I only buy dlink and cisco/linksys routers and switches because I know the UI, and for the most part are very high in quality. THIS d-655 is the one i use for the middle of my house...I can see it everywhere in my house (2300 sq ft) and from the street in the front (where it is right now)...I also have THIS one also...dlink 615....it doesn't have good reviews but it is one that has a lot of firmware upgrades/variants to it...you can add linksys/cisco firmware onto it and use that UI along with the features that come along with more advanced firmware. it has been around for a long time now but it has a lot of support for it (dlink or online firmware writers) and it has decent strength. THIS one is the E1200 from cisco. it also has decent strength and you can also still update the firmware to something else. only problem with this guy is that you can't really mount it on the wall since it doesn't have the little holes for it. but a nice looking router none the less. and if anyone asks...I have backups for backups. I planned on having my old gamers lounge fail on me for like a year but she is still going strong. I think it is a dgl-4000 or something...it came out in 2004 and still giving it up like she did the first day I used her (bandwidth lol). so I have these for when she dies and I have to replace her....with the firmware upgrades you can (sometimes at least) increase the signal strength from the antenna's...sometimes..

I wasn't able to locate my old router, so I was wondering if this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AAU54TW/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2JUPN4BTA3CZV one would be sufficient? thanks for all the help, I truly appreciate it.
