I bought this 8 button remote last year because I watch broadcast tv during the day for noise or something lazy to half watch while Im online. I mainly got it for the mute button because of political ads. It was $8 VERY WELL spent!

I also use it during the holidays to mute the CONSUME OBEY commercials.

Disassemble something like this and wire it to the AV/input button.

That's true. However, the remote control that came with the TV can do the same things, and it only has forty useless buttons. I don't see why I would want to pay $50 for a bulkier remote that has forty-nine useless buttons and requires configuration.

My problem isn't that my AV system is too complicated and I need a more powerful remote to manage it. My problem is that my AV system is very simple and I need literally four buttons to control it (five with mute). The Harmony just doesn't seem to address my problem.

For reference, I consider this remote to be on the right track.
