I have a fairly thick beard, and I just got these (was using Merkur before) because they were decently priced. I don't know what to think. I think they're not right for me, but I've only been shaving my neck (beard-time!) and it's super sensitive anyway.

interesting. i agree on the price thing - mach 3's are ridiculously overpriced - but the safety razors leave me bleeding quite a bit yet paradoxically the shave isn't quite as close. which blades have you had the best luck with? i've tried the derby's and the merkur's and the latter seem to perform much better on my face, though the former seem to stay sharp longer.

did you try normal gel with your safety razors and then switch to soap/brush? i tried the soap/brush thing long ago but didn't detect any difference. i only recently switched to the safety razor.

It is a nice set up to being with. My word of advice: take your time on your first shave to get used to this way of shaving.

The first time I shaved with the safety razor I spent about 30 mins. Now I can do it in 10 to 15 mins.

I've heard about those and I just googled, and I can't imagine for the life of me what that would be used for hahah. It just cuts closer or what?

I'm using these blades right now and I love them a lot. I've also never had a problem with ingrown hairs though so maybe some more research would be needed as far as fineness of the blades or something? I'm not sure how I'd go about finding that out lol

You can get cheap razor blades at the pharmacy like this. Use a popsicle stick or something to hold the blade and it'll cut fantastically.
