What sponge filter are you getting? I tried one similar to the one you linked there and it didn't work for me despite being 1.5W. The one below worked much better.
I use the Aquarium Co-Op's nano USB one. You can find them on Amazon too. They're cylindrical with a silicone cover outside to silence the sound. Literally dead silent unless you put your ear up to it.

That's FANTASTIC! Your betta will absolutely enjoy that size once he/she settles in. You do need to provide adequate plant coverage though. I aim for about 50-50 plant jungle and open water, and my favorite layout is putting taller plants to the back and sides forming a sort of "armchair" layout with the plant jungle while having the front and middle of the tank more open swimming space, but any gradient of plant jungle and open water can work. (Another example: plant jungle to either side of the tank, open valley in-between somewhere, or thick plant jungle from one side to open water on the other side, or scattered plant jungle throughout tank).
Ok so a 10g tank I recommend this double-sponge-double-media-chamber sponge filter for maximum bio-filtration capacity while being gentle on bettas:
https://www.amazon.com/Powkoo-Double-Biochemical-Aquarium-Gallons/dp/B01M3VALFU/ The dual filter media chambers are small but I recommend TopFin (Petsmart) Quartz Bioballs which fit perfectly. You can see the sponge filter (and the TopFin Quartz Bioballs) in action in an older video clip of my tank: https://i.imgur.com/UbPpecg.mp4
Here's more about the TopFin Quartz Bioballs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4EdmAkyEEA (that's where I first heard about them)
and some kind of air pump to run the sponge filter: https://www.amazon.com/Aquarium-Gallon-Oxygen-Silicone-Suction/dp/B07RLZ7K4T/
OR this one (which could be good in event of power-outage if you have a battery pack, but needs a separate usb-outlet-plug adapter) https://www.amazon.com/Mylivell-Portable-Aquarium-Hydroponic-Supplies/dp/B07R9WJD9C/
You'll want to use the included check-valve (comes with either of those two air pumps) too, as they are a failsafe against power-outage causing the tank water to back-siphon out.
EDIT: https://www.amazon.com/Mylivell-Portable-Aquarium-Hydroponic-Supplies/dp/B07S1YHBLM/ same USB air-pump but WITH the usb outlet adapter included for $1 more
I just got this air pump earlier this week and I love it. I was getting terrible headaches from my old Whisper air pump--this one I can't hear at all!
Another bonus is that it's a USB cord, so in case of a power outage you can connect it to a power bank and not have to worry about filtering the tank at all. Came in super handy today as we got a really bad storm and I was without power for almost 12 hours.
