Is this a good ssd? I'm on a really tight budget.

Edit: Question Mark

I second the Crucial M500. I have one in my W500 and will be installing one in my new x200 when it arrives. The X201 uses a 9.5mm HD bay. The M500 is a 7mm SSD, but it comes with a stick on filler.

Crusial M500 120 GB SSD for $72 on Amazon

EDIT I would not buy that 240 GB SSD from Arch. You can get a much better SSD for cheaper. For instance, the 240 GB Crucial M500 is only $110.

u/tamarockstar · 3 pointsr/buildapc

I'd go with a 240GB SSD.

120GB is enough for the OS, programs and a few games.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BQ4F9ZA/?tag=pcpapi-20

The 240GB is $48 more and you can fit around 10 more games on it. If you've played a game like Batman: Arkham Origins on both an SSD and a hard drive, you can see a big difference. It's much smoother.

The market is pushing out 60G drives, a few months ago I saw several for right about $50, now the cheapest I see is the Kingston 60 for $60, but I'd spend the little extra dough on a 120G Crucial M500 for $75 which is a much better drive than the kingston and twice the space. This is a decent 128G for $63 after coupon(VMEMADNESS expires today) There's also 64G for $44 without coupon. I haven't personally used ADATA, so can't vouch for them, but the reviews look ok.

edit: forgot the link to the ADATA

Well, you could save a bit of money by using a ssd, that is not as high quality, like the Crucial M500 120GB.

Also, the HDD shouldn't be that expensive, especially for 500GB.

u/fatherlongcat · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I'd swap out that SSD for a Samsung 840 EVO or a Crucial M500. Faster, lower rate of failiure, better warranty.

u/MrGulio · 1 pointr/buildapc

An SSD along with a 1 TB HDD. You will install windows and a few programs on the SSD while keeping the HDD as a storage device for your media and other large files.

u/MMACheerpuppy · 1 pointr/leagueoflegends

Honestly I'd skip the HDD get an SSD at 120GB for the same price from where it says 9New and just reuse an old HDD since they're all the same . http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B00BQ4F9ZA/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new

The sandisk and Kingston are virtually identical component and performance wise. The A Data drive uses faster synchronous NAND however the controller has subpar performance so its mostly a moot point. I will echo jakomako's suggestion of going with a faster 120GB drive with a better price/storage ratio. Either of these will work:

out of the 3 you listed, I'd just go with whichever is cheapest probably. If I had to choose I'd go in this order:

Sandisk>Kingston>A Data

If you don't find anything by Tuesday, I have a Crucial M500 120gb. I am out of town until Tuesday though. https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-2-5-Inch-adapter-Internal-CT120M500SSD1/dp/B00BQ4F9ZA

u/zubmkd · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

Thanks for the link. I need to buy a laptop for university too (work, movies/anime, no gaming).

I'm considering these 3:

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/mac

Ok awesome. That is why Ill do :). What do you do for Windows? say you ever needed it? for a game or 2 . I'm getting a Crucial . http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-2-5-Inch-adapter-Internal-CT120M500SSD1/dp/B00BQ4F9ZA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1393786097&sr=8-3&keywords=120gb+ssd

u/MrMusAddict · 1 pointr/buildapc

If you're looking to pinch your pennies, you can swap out that Samsung SSD for a 120GB Crucial M500 SSD and save about $15

u/Lololwut · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

If you don't care about internal space, getting a SSD would be a better(and more noticeable) upgrade for your laptop.

u/Logan_Gibson · 1 pointr/DataHoarder

It will probably be this Crucial because we get them at work for pretty cheap.

Do you see any sense in running one of those in a Raid1 ? I have a machine that will be making bare metal backups of the OS.

u/mikewazowski96 · 1 pointr/buildapc

I would recommend the crucial m500 over the ssdnow as its only a tiny bit more expensive on amazon and is considerably better. Apart from that it seems good.

u/TibbTobb · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

I think amazon ships to Ireland for free?
But if not you should be able to get something similar from dabs for slightly more money.
Anyway just take this as a general guide and ask again just before you buy as prices change all the time.

ASRock 960GM/U3S3 FX Motherboard £41.08

Corsair Builder Series CXM 430W Modular Power Supply
£36.73

Gigabyte AMD R9 270 OC 2GB Graphics Card £131.98

WD 1TB 3.5 inch Internal Hard Drive - Caviar Blue £42.99

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium OEM £59.99

Zalman T3 Mini M-ATX/M-ITX Tower Case £19.36

AMD FX6300 CPU £80.99

Total: £413.12 = €493.93

This build should play most new games at 60FPS high settings and gives great value for money.

When you have €100 spare get this SSD. Well worth the money in my opinion. Or if you can't get that much money together get this 120gb, €60 one. But its worse value for money as the euro per gigabyte is worse.

u/I_Math_Debate · 1 pointr/buildapc

Certainly! Depending on your price range, there are an assortment of different styles. As for an SSD drive, I recommend a 120gb Samsung EVO for 89.99 from Amazon. This is probably the most efficient for the price, but if you want a cheaper SSD, another good one is 120gb Crucial M500 for 69.99 from Amazon
Also, they are very thin because they run off of flash memory. They aren't as small as they look, but they are very thin. You attach it with a SATA cable and put it in a bay that you would put a regular HDD.

will update with cases in a second

u/mexicanwave · 1 pointr/buildapc

I currently have a 300gb HDD which I believe I can just reuse. What do you think of this SSD though http://www.amazon.co.uk/Crucial-CT120M500SSD1-120GB-Internal-Solid/dp/B00BQ4F9ZA

u/e60deluxe · 1 pointr/techsupport

those 745's just take standard 3.5" SATA Hard drives. the issue is that the hard drive caddy wont carry a 2.5" SSD.

you do get adapter rails, but many of them dont have the exact hole pattern of a standard 3.5" hard drive and may not fit in the Dell caddy.

what i would do is simply use a one or two command strips to attatch the drive to the Dell caddy.

i woud opt for a 120GB drive atleast

I love this build but I would advise to getting the G3220! instead of the g3420 (if living close to a microcenter or a staples with price matching) since it is usually 15-20$ less.

For the case you could go if you like how it looks (also for less) for the Cougar Spike for around $35.

With the around $30 in savings this could net you I would recommend getting a slightly better PSU for the future so you would not have to buy a new one either this for $50! or this for 79!

Either invest those savings on a slightly more future proof PSU.. or get an ssd, which is the single BEST investment any PC can have when it comes to speed (should set you back around 70!)

Edit: If possible please do go a bit over budget.. as being around 530-540 can get you a lot of future proofing!
