2 Ottlites and a Conair light up oval mirror.
(The two big windows on either side help too.)
I like the Ottlites because they're a good simulator of daylight, and fold up when you're not using them. And I like the oval mirror because it has x1 magnification on one side and x7 on the other, which was hard to find for a light up mirror.
$3/$4 is average for a regular size medium weight acrylic skein. They get more expensive when you change fibers or go to boutique yarn shops.
