Keep in mind along with the initial price you pay a monthly subscription. I also checked into using these tags, but battery life is poor.

That's not how GPS locators work at all.
This is what a modern GPS locator looks like with a 48hr battery:

They cost $100 by themselves and require a monthly service fee.
Stuff like this shows me that very little research has apparently been done which dramatically lowers the expectations of the project.
