Less than half is a bit of an understatement. You can get a decent pocket scale for less than $10. Would I weigh diamonds or cocaine with it? Probably not. But it's surprisingly accurate. I've had this scale for many years and regularly use it:

You can find it cheaper on Aliexpress or eBay. It weighs a 50 cent coin at 7.72g, it's supposed to be 7.80. A 2โฌ coin is weighed at 8.44g (supposed to be 8.5g). I think that's fairly accurate, you could attribute the difference to wearing off on the coins.
