If anyone wants a good book to read on the subject of the negro leagues (and race in general in baseball) I highly suggest this one by Rob Ruck
I guess I phrased that poorly, less the right to work and more the persuasion/push to get women to work en masse. I posted more thoughts here: https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/6h903f/disney_rejection_letter_to_a_woman_1938/dix7397/ It's more of an exercise in what if it happened differently. Sort of like the integration of Baseball and how it basically completely gutted the african american leagues of all good players and caused their leagues to collapse which also had a reverberating negative impact on other black institutions. This book goes into that in parts: https://www.amazon.com/Raceball-Major-Leagues-Colonized-Black/dp/0807048070 I just think it's interesting thinking what if. But yes that's a very valid point, although I wouldn't say money is the most important thing in the world.
