Yeah... unfortunately that's just the nature of the AT2020. It's really for an acoustically treated environment / recording, not so much sitting next to a whiney XBox.
It'll cost you some money to use a dynamic mic unless you get another USB one and it doesn't seem like you have a reason to use an audio interface.
you could get an audio interface and an SM58 (SM58 is about $100, but you could find a used one), this is what I personally use for Skype + phone calls and the audio comes through quite nicely.

this is a USB mic but it's kinda pricey

but honestly this is all you need

if you put the mics really close to your mouth you can use less gain and you'll get less background noise. It'll also give you that nice boomy radio voice (proximity effect means when a directional mic is close to you, you get more bass so your voice will sound cool)
Spend a little bit more, and get the Rode Podcaster. I know it's like twice your budget, but it honestly blows that Samson out the water.

that sounds right. Maybe the Rode Podcaster Mic? https://www.amazon.com/Rode-Podcaster-USB-Dynamic-Microphone/dp/B000JM46FY
All of these will work fine for what you need them for. The Rode one would probably sound the best for talking/VoiceOver but its slightly more expensive.
USB Mics:
AT2020
Blue Yeti
Rode Podcaster

Mic Stand:
Mic Stand 1
Mic Stand 2 more expensive but a good stand.
For that price you could pick up a Rode Podcaster. The wiki has a test video for it.
No value judgments here one way or the other, just letting you know your options.
You could check out something like the Rode Podcaster. It's a good dynamic USB microphone. Ideally paired with a shockmount and boom arm (would come in at 230£ total if you take all from Rode).
Hi all,
I have been podcasting for 4 years (57th most popular sports podcast in the world last time i checked!)
One thing that has always hampered me is my sound quality. I have 4 mic set up but it's really basic and I would rather go for one mic with the group sat around it.
I have around £100/$150 to spend, have a mixer and XLR cables, so only need the mic itself. What would you recommend?
These are three I have found

Got a new microphone! It's this one. I've done some audio testing with it and it's REALLY nice. Way better than my current clip on Zalman mic I got for $5, which happens to have a permanent static in the background.
I was originally planning on getting a Blue Snowball or something in that similar price range, so it's a little surprising to everyone (and me) that I wound up with this. Luckily, I didn't actually have to pay for it.
Story Time Alert
My Mom used to be into singing, (about 4-5 years ago) and wanted to really make it her hobby. She was planning on recording herself singing and uploading it to Youtube, for fun and practice. So she invested into the above microphone. Unfortunately, she never really got into it and the mic never really got much used.
Fast forward several years.
I've been doing this LP thing for several months, I've decided I really want to pursue this hobby, and decide I want to invest in a slightly better microphone. Before I do though, my Mom tells me that the old microphone she bought was still around, and was probably buried in the shed somewhere. (We'd moved since she first bought it)
So today I went out and rummaged around in the shed for about an hour. Finally found it in the back under a heap of boxes, along with it's USB cord. It's a little beat up, but it still sounds awesome, and is one thousand times better than what I had before.
All I'm waiting for now is a boom arm/stand for it so I can start recording with it.
Really awesome turn of events and I'm super hyped to start recording with it.
Alternative being a dynamic microphone rather than a condenser microphone; dynamic microphones aren't as sensitive to background noise.
I've no idea there's any good budget USB dynamic microphones; everyone recommends condenser microphones when they're not suitable for a lot of people's setups, so it's hard to find reviews on dynamic microphones for this sort of usage.
I managed to get my Rode Podcaster for extremely cheap on eBay second-hand (£90 and included the shock mount). Not sure I'd recommend it at full price, but it's very good and I'm quite the cheapskate.
If you are interested, there are many affordable mics that don't pick up any mouse or keyboard noise, they are called dynamic microphones. OP has a condenser mic, which can be talked to from any direction and a fair distance away, but also picks up most background noise. Dynamic mics have to be positioned close to your mouth and talked directly into(so generally you need an adjustable desk stand) but in turn they pick up virtually zero background noise.
This is the one I am using and my friends never hear my MX blues, even if I have 0 sensitivity voice activation enabled https://www.amazon.com/Rode-Podcaster-USB-Dynamic-Microphone/dp/B000JM46FY

those are my recommendations if you want a good mic :)
Rode Podcaster. Great sound and USB plug and play. http://www.amazon.com/Rode-Podcaster-USB-Dynamic-Microphone/dp/B000JM46FY
Logitech and Creative web cams and a nice Rode mic for the main conf. room. Remotes use small webcams on laptops with built in mics. We use Webex. it works pretty well.
Mic is here: http://www.amazon.com/Rode-Podcaster-USB-Dynamic-Microphone/dp/B000JM46FY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322682169&sr=8-1
The Rode Procaster may be worth looking into, depending on your needs.
I have the Rode Podcaster and it's perfect for what I need it for (podcasting, oddly enough) so I feel pretty safe saying that their other products may be worth a look as well.
