doesnt this fix the phantom power voltage issue? It converts from 12-48v down to 3-5v

Phantom Power on:

So i have the Microphone fader set to infinity(?) so that I can't hear it through my headphones while I am talking. I turned the gain down so that there is no buzz coming from the microphone.

This seems to have fixed that issue as I just had everything maxed and that was a bad call on my part as that is what was introducing buzz on the microphone.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Phantom power off:

I cannot get any audio to come through.

---------------------------------------------------------

I have discovered another issue where when I open up any game on my PC I get a heavy amount of buzz into my microphone.

Huh, the mic is 1/8th inch and uses phantom power? That's a new one on me. In that case, it looks like you need the Rode VXLR+ adapter instead, per the Q&A on the original adapter.

Heya - For stepdown from 48v we make a Power Converter for XLR to 3.5mm. Rode also makes one (as far as I know we're the only two) - just to show I am not 100% shilling here :)

I'm about to receive the very same model for my birthday and I was wondering about it too. The question for me was gamer-oriented as I do play online games a lot and I use a gamer headset with mic.
I think the solution here will be a 3.5mm to XLR converter like this baby from Rode : https://www.amazon.com/Rode-VXLR-Female-Transforming-Adapter/dp/B071LNDKBJ?keywords=rode+vxlr%2B&qid=1537095808&sr=8-1-fkmrnull&ref=sr_1_fkmrnull_1
It's only 25$ and I think it can make you use your headset and avoid you troubles with soundcard switching (scarlett <-> integrated) every time you go from music production to gaming sessions. Hope it'll help some of you guys.

The HD599 aren't very hard to drive, so here is my recommendation but it's not exactly what you asked for. It will definitely improve the mic quality, and gives you a gain knob for mic sensitivity, and a headphone volume knob as well.

XLR to 3.5mm phantom power converter (this lets you plug mod mic into the XLR mic pre-amps):

Actually it likely will not work, because cheapo mini jack mics use something called bias voltage, or plug-in power.

It's not the same as phantom power and most interfaces do not provide it. It's a different voltage and goes through a different pin.

The only USB devices I know that allow you to use those mics are the Zoom recorders with a mini jack input. They can be used as an audio interface and sound pretty decent.

https://www.zoom-na.com/products/field-video-recording/field-recording/zoom-h1-handy-recorder

"The H1 Mic/Line Input is a stereo ⅛" mini phone jack that can accept two mic- and/or line-level signals. Condenser microphones requiring Plug-In Power (2.5 volts) can be connected to this jack."

Edit: This might work: https://www.amazon.co.uk/VXLR-Minijack-Adaptor-Power-Converter/dp/B071LNDKBJ

I would love if you let us know if it did, because I've never had the chance to try one. It converts phantom power to plug-in power. The other ones I've seen are like £130 so this is a bargain.

Not that specific adaptor. You need something like this.

Unfortunately, it'll be $100 for 4 of them.
