I used to own a Samsung BAR flash drive. It was this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013CCTM2E/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It got too hot to touch and the write speed was miserably slow. Those two things led me to leaving it in the computer at school and donating it to the next user. I went ahead and bought a SanDisk EXTREME Go instead: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NARBPI7/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
No complaints.

Yes, If you want the same documents and settings between distros, you can create a /home partition and share them between distros. When distro hopping I've done this with no problem as long as I kept to the same DE and made sure the primary user had the same UID. But be warned, you're on your own here. For me this was my linux sandbox machine.

Not if you use a high quality USB like this one:
https://www.amazon.com/Sandisk-Extreme-Type-Flash-Drive/dp/B01NARBPI7
These higher end drives actually have a SSD controller.
For over 2 years I ran my daily driver off the same flash drive. I disabled swap, setup RAM disks for /tmp and logs, and set added the
noatime
anddiscard
options to my boot drive in the fstab file.So alway backup, but if use a high quality drive, you can expect years of live off a flash drive.
Better than a Sandisk extreme go 64gb?
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01NARBPI7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_er1TDb6RA7AJR
And better than a Wd passport?
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01LQQH86A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_9s1TDb6GEYH3C
Ive used both with the same problem occurring shortly after starting driving.
That's... not quite true, $32.96 on Amazon, and 32.99 for USB 3.1. Maybe you found a different version?
