In this book, Laing demonstrates:
It really is a terrifying read. He goes and interviews all the families of the patients diagnosed as 'schizophrenic' (although you could replace this with any label, like PPD). Laing discovers that, in every case, the family was mentally and/or physically abusive to the patient.
There are so many labels for this stuff. But the cause was childhood environment. Therapists will mess around labelling you with one thing or another. But the label is of no value. You are not the cause of your problems. We exist in relation to our communities.

The traditional mental health community has almost no idea how to help you. I saw it first hand. But they will probably want to repress your emerging emotions and memories using SSRIs or similar. The objective is rarely to heal you, but, more often, to 'normalise' your behaviour within a dysfunctional society.
My view: Remember the original experiences that caused the problem. Breathe through the pain and sadness. Be free.
