I'd take a 480, 570, 580, GTX 970, or 1070. They all seem pretty close, so I would have to consider the prices versus the specs (amount of VRAM, cooling quality, power pins/overclockability) for the individual manufacturers' cards.

I do love the way this card looks, especially the backplate, but the fans and amount of VRAM sold me. I don't know how often I use more than 2GB, but I definitely do in some games, but the 2GB version of the MSI R9 380 is slightly faster.

My biggest complaint is probably that the card heats big areas, and my 45nm CPU outputs a decent amount of heat too. They both stay cool, but I don't - at least in Summer. I just wish I waited for the 480, but that's always how it is, and it would have been a while.

I don't know what the prices are like for other cards where you're at, but I would have spent hours researching the cards I listed.

Looks like more RX 500s will be in stock in a week or so: https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B06ZYWX744/ref=sr_1_71_olp?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1500290206&sr=1-71&keywords=rx+580&condition=new

Here's an open-box card I might buy if I couldn't wait: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4794303&CatId=11972

The 1050Ti is really over priced for what it is in my opinion, you could spend an extra $30 for this RX 570 and get near double the performance.

Yeah the 110 limits you to the ITX variant of the 570 which is a bit expensive: https://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-11266-06-20G-Radeon-Pulse-Graphics/dp/B06ZYWX744

You'll be good, just take out the gt 730 and throw it in, attach the 8-pin connector and you will be good. If you haven't ordered yet, don't get a 480 though. The RX 570 came out for ~$30 cheaper, and has basically the same performance. You probably want a smaller card too, so the 570 will be good:

> The thing is MASSIVE and takes up two slot widths, but only uses the one PCIE16 slot

That's normal.

> It also is very long and I got lucky that it fit in the case. It also has an additional power connector on the top and by a happy accident, the PSU happened to have the correct connector available.

You sure got lucky here. That's two instances where things could have gone wrong.
As for the card being massive... you haven't seen it all !

> Even though I now realize that I mis-read the list you provided thinking it was in descending order of performance.

Yeah, that's a shame. For $15 more you could have gotten a RX 570 that outperforms the 1050Ti by a huge margin.
Anyway, and like you said, it's still a massive improvement over what you had.
Don't forget to install the drivers !

As for the SSD, you have installed Windows on it, I take it ?

> I remember ordering it with the fastest CPU (at the time) and the most memory possible,

Yeah, it shall all be good with your i7-2600 for a little while longer.
