I assume the OP wants a half-width fan - although they're not hard to find and I'm not sure why the OP is having such difficulty doing that. These took about a minute to find on Amazon by searching for 'slim 120mm fan':

I'm about to make the purchase for this build. It's time for me to move on from my 2600k and 780 in a gigantic tower. I'm sold on the small form factor. I already have the Ncase M1. I'm trying to cram as much power as I can into the case for an excellent VR machine and 1440p 165hz gaming.

Dude! Let's try to help each other out. :) I'm currently working in a very very small case (Ncase M1) and the fans need to be superslim, but ofc also efficient and quiet. Don't listen to him, there's a lot of choices.
I've found a couple of fans that might do the trick. Fill in if you have any information. I wrote the thickness in [mm].
The PWM fans above have a range, and I think I'll go with a PWM fan thb. Scythe have the thinnest fan, but it's not PWM controlled but still at a pretty low RPM... This is hard :D
yeah, i was just looking at this one right now.

seems to have some good reviews on it. only thing is that it is 1200 RPM, and the 800 RPM is sold out everywhere.
ill look at the silverstone one, thanks!
If normal 120 fans won't fit, check out slim fans.

looks great, you could easily go with the cheapest i5, not too much difference there.
Also that fan is thick (25mm) and might not fit. I had to get a thin one from scythe:

I had to go for one of these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002CYPWTG as it's the only one that would fit in the case.
I still had to move the cables in the connector though, the pinout on the switch is different to a standard PC fan.
That was another concern of mine... I knew the R9 Nano fit, was hoping the 1060 would. Do you think if I used a Scythe Slip stream (.5 Inches thick) and altered the 1060 plastic housing it would fit? Thank you for reference.

The best way to estimate scale would be using the fan. 120mm fans are roughly 1.5" in width and using some really ghetto MSPaint skills, I'm estimating the clearance to be roughly 0.75" between the fan and the GPU. Since the FTW3 is 0.87" longer than the Titan X, you will need an extra 0.12" of clearance. By default, it will not fit... with the stock fan.
You could try swapping the default 120mm fan for a slim type like the Scythe Slip Stream. Those fans are only 0.5" in width, so that alone will give you an extra 1" of clearance. Hell, you could do two for a push/pull setup and still have enough room for the FTW3.
I have no clue what those ^^^ are, but I have 2 or 3 of these;

They're thin ..
Then he should drop 20 bucks on something like this.
