Take a look at it from another side:

  • Filter filters water (collects floating particles, not moves them in another dimension), filtered (collected) particles should be removed by you.

  • The dirtier water is, the more floating particles are there. More substrate vacuuming (siphoning out waste) should result less polluted water.

  • If this cartridge gets clogged fast, try DIY version. You can see what other users did by search for filtter name and DIY. I would use plastic skeleton of the cartridge as a holder and place piece of disposable filter floss before it. If too thick, it could be pulled apart to half-thickness. Replace it as soon as it's get dirty, even every several hours. Bacteria are on the all tank surfaces: wood, rock, substrate, plants.

  • If more fine filtration is necessary, after cleaning tank water from large particles, you can place piece of micron pad instead of filter floss. 100-200 mc is enough, 500 is too fine. Do that when you are at home. If should gets clogged fairly fast and needs to be replaced by another , clean micron pad. When finished, backflush them and wash with a bleach, air overnight and dechlorinate.
