I have a similar story as yours , its just my 10k is on May 13th. I took a vacation in March end and now my body is not up to the pace like I had before going on vacation. Still I am trying my best to get back to where I was by strength training and running alternate days for 6.2 miles (10K). I dont keep a track of time and just my miles..After coming back from vacation in April I could not run for even 5 mins on treadmill ( it was still snowing in my town), I was so upset that felt like not running or participating in the upcoming run...still I tried and few days later I did my 10k run in 1hr:15 mins, yesterday I ran 10k in 1hr:4mins..hopefully by May 13th I should be under 1 hr
I was encouraged to run by this book, its very few pages and also gives advice what to eat and drink and training for 5k,10k and more k's...check out your local book store , if not pdf can be found online
