To be fair the Xperia Z1 has only been out for like 6 months, this question would be more suited to Z owners.
That said, I've had the Z1 for about 5 months and so far it's held up great. This is the first phone I have where I didn't put a case over it because of how sexy the phone looks without it. I just couldn't do it. So I slapped on this and I was good to go.
Not one scratch yet. The phone is extremely durable. I've worn out the protector once and I just ordered a replacement for free. Best 20 bucks I've ever spent. When I took it off to replace it my phone looked as if I bought it yesterday. Waterproofing is amazing as well. I never thought I'd use it but it feels so good being able to wash the phone under the tap if it gets too dirty.
Update-wise Sony has been pretty good with the Z1. Kitkat came out a few weeks ago so I've been enjoying that. Hopefully once the Z2 releases we'll get some of the Z2's nice features. I just hope Sony doesn't ignore us, they have a 6 month update cycle but they should ensure that older devices get supported well too.
