I've had this for maybe 2 months now and it's too bright (I've seen people online complaining about how bright it is). It does wire into your dimmer though, if your car has that. If you look at the unit on Amazon, you can actually click on the other models on that page. They're all the same in terms of the display, so you could go with a cheaper model.
