One I liked was Brain Rules for Baby: How to Raise a Smart and Happy Child from Zero to Five by John Medina. He makes a point of using information that is supported by multiple studies.

There's also Bright From The Start and The Science of Parenting, both of which had helpful scientific information.

Sadly this is still the main component of many popular parenting books even though the science now has taught us this is not without it's potential risks.
We now know better but because of it's seemingly short term success (and myths like 'rod for your own back') it perpetuates. We know it's stressful for babies and for a young brain to develop in such circumstances, all that cortisol going around (especially if it's a regular thing) is not ideal. I could go on for ages but if you are interested books by Professor Margot Sunderland and Sue Gerhardt are worth a read.
When it comes to parenting following your instincts and being responsive now has the science to back it up.
