I highly recommend the book as there is so much more to Triphasic than pauses in movements. It's a whole methodology roughly adapted from the Bulgarian olympic system and scaled to allow for maximum adaptability in college athletes (Seasons, studies and vacations).

As far as (171x,1171 & 1117) or however many seconds you want your pause to be there's a purpose to the means.

I'm sure it was mentioned on the podcast but eccentrics is essentially meant to lengthen the muscle. At the end when you reach isometric position your legs should be at their max length for the movement. This can be best felt doing eccentrics with Good Mornings. Then since it's a strength program you continue the lift explosively.

Isometrics is training your body and joints to absorb force and change directions efficiently. If you drop the bar you are forgetting about the entire other direction. As far as the vasculature in your legs, when you inhale to proceed and keep tension at the bottom the body going into panic mode because your entire body is (should be) braced but no O2 is coming in so that's when the time past 2 seconds on the Isometric hold comes into play.

Lastly, we have Concentic where the muscles are shortening again. The is the point in the rubber band where the rubber band flies of your finger as it releases it's force. Your are basically training your musculature (in this case legs) to be more efficient with power (explosive).

Triphasic can absolutely incorporate Crossfit. Ill let you guys know how it works out when i finish a few more cycles. (if I remember in a year or so)
