You could theoretically fix that part in the cable with Jelly Connectors - they're definitely not ideal, but can do the job.
Or you can cut the whole wire and attach a new fitting on each end - then use a Female - Female adapter. You'd need to buy a tool to attach the fitting tho - but I'm sure it'll come in handy later in life. Mine is almost 15 yrs old and I just used it last week.
