u/Firemower - with a $1000 budget, I recommend a $619 (on sale) Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 plus a $218 Viltrox EF-M2II focal reducer/adapter. You really can't beat the low light performance and "look" of this lens for the price.
Plus, you can keep this lens when/if you decide to rent or buy an URSA Mini Pro, Canon Cinema Camera, Panasonic EVA1, Panasonic Varicam LT, RED Raven or other pro cinema camera with a Canon EF lens mount.
You won't be able to do that if you buy micro four thirds glass.
