There is a good TED (and I am sure other Youtube video) about how it works

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arj7oStGLkU

I am using (at work) a "today's plan of attack list" where I list things I want to be done - even before opening my email inbox, and try as much as possible to stick to it.

Then there is all the advice about breaking up tasks or ensuring you have continuous good vibes by progressing (i.e instead of having an objective of "write a book" which will take a long time, and have only a short reward/happiness when completed, list objective : "write 1h today" you will create an habit, feel good about meeting your objective of the days, and generate happiness all along writing your book.)

I think I got that from Tim Ferris.

then there is the irony of recommending watching videos on Youtube to beat procrastination when watching videos on Youtube is procrastination....

I modified my setup a bit, to accodomodate feedback from other people and to see what works best for me

Somebody suggest to use this knife:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0016KHW2W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Here's my new setup:

RIGHT FRONT POCKET

Any dynomighty wallet, just pick a design

https://www.dynomighty.com/categories/

Car keys (whatever your carkeys are). If you want a USB stick added on to your keys, use a Micro-HDMI for low profile and convenience

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RBGYGPG/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

LEFT FRONT POCKET

Iphone6, Samsung S6, etc etc. Whatever floats your boat

Pick a small battery charger, search for it on amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=portable+battery+charger&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Aportable+battery+charger

Get a retractable cable for your charger if you need too (low profile)

duck tape

Tape planet had the cheapest prices at $1.54 each

http://www.tapeplanet.com/Mini-Rainbow-Duck-Tape-Duckling-p/stdtpl-282322.htm

BACK LEFT POCKET

Measuring tape. This one has the lowest profile so it doesn't hurt to sit on, 10' is good enough for almost everything

BACK RIGHT POCKET

Get sticky notes, I suggest highland brand 3"x3" since it works for nearly everything you might need sticky notes. I suggest getting both, alternate colors by day

Plain yellow:

that's my current setup

I had a job interview yesterday and did quite well. I've already received a follow-up phone call to schedule a second interview! Back patting commences

Current short term goal is to get my 2-mile time down to 18 minutes. Right now it's 20, which is the fastest I've run ever and the longest I've been able to go at a time ever, and I'm slowly getting better!

This would help me stay organized if I get the new job (or even if I don't!). Plus, sea-life puns are my favorite.

u/hexaneandheels · 2 pointsr/collegeinfogeek

I agree! I buy all my textbooks because of this. I don't like the idea of using pen in my books so I take notes in mechanical pencil. This also makes it convenient to take notes on the go! I just jam my pencil in my Quantum Mechanics textbook and carry it around with me.

This also makes it really easy to mark questions you have. Just underline the part of the text you don't understand, write your question next to it (or just ??? if you're that confused), and go back to it later.

But if you only want to rent your textbooks, you can use something like these transparent sticky notes.

u/jesus_christ_FENTON · 1 pointr/firstworldproblems

yeah they are a strong adhesive on one side and a padded section of a weaker adhesive that is strong enough to temporarily attach things to places like walls/shelves. Something like This.

u/NerdfighterEngineer · 3 pointsr/cardmaking

These are the post-its I use. There is about a 1/4" on one the edge that isn't sticky, but the rest is.

Post-it Super Sticky Full Adhesive Notes, 3 in x 3 in size, Bora Bora Collection, 12 pads/pack (F330-12SSFM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009DIOQ7S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fi2DzbFDMH65C

If you can't find those, use regular thin paper, cover with a layer of Tombow two way glue and let it dry completely. It will be removable just like the post it.

Mono Multi Liquid Glue Carded, 0.88-Ounce https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000XAOSHS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Sk2DzbJCHN9V1

> Ill go away until I have my next brilliant idea

We're still waiting for the first one.

This is basically a 'solution' looking for a problem. It doesn't really add any value to the game, there's just a situation where it could maybe possibly be useful in certain circumstances.

$10 for actual Post-It notes is a LOT cheaper than dozens of hours of developer time to replicate the functionality in-game. Just save everyone the time and use the real thing.

u/Sieberella · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Laminate!!!!! OMG so much Laminate!!!! And Sharpie Pens I don't need anything else! Okay...maybe some post its. Because I mean you need those...but while you're at it you may was well grab a whole bunch of amazing Expo markers for the board....but then you would need Chart paper you know...just in case you can't use the board for some reason. But then you need the star stickers because they come in handy for so many things!!!!!....>Gah /u/ichooseyoupika2 LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE!!!!!!!

u/KinipelaH · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Nope! Not me :D that's awesome though!
I got you these (:

u/runninger · 4 pointsr/Journalism

I use these reporter's pads and fold them, if that makes sense, so the sheets I'm writing on rest against the back of the pad. It gives me a little extra pressure to write on. Beyond that, you just get used to it and you'll adjust to which position works best.

Transcribing — I always record interviews, but I also try to write down direct quotes as well, to an extent. It would be impossible for me to get down literally everything, but I've learned to know when a quote is said that I'll want to include in the story. I also write down facts I'll paraphrase, details, and anything a recorder won't pick up (surroundings, someone's reaction when they're speaking, etc.) Suggestion: You could learn shorthand, which would help with speed when writing down your notes.

u/trailblazingtech · 3 pointsr/django

I like your thinking!

I tend to take a poster pad (something like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00006IA99/) and draw out a block diagram of all of the major objects in my system - in your case, Organization, Asset, Risk, Audit, etc. Once I feel like I could explain my entire piece of software to someone who doesn't have anything to do with software engineering using the blocks and arrows drawn, I've probably got a good starting point.

Depending on the number of objects and their inherent complexity, I either do a separate Django app for each object, or I may use another color marker to group objects together into logical groupings, then make apps for the groupings instead. So in your case, my folders would look like:

/proj/
/proj/bin/
/proj/proj/
/proj/proj/assets/
/proj/proj/assets/migrations/
/proj/proj/assets/migrations/init.py
/proj/proj/assets/templates/
/proj/proj/assets/templates/assets/
/proj/proj/assets/templates/assets/asset_list.html
/proj/proj/assets/init.py
/proj/proj/assets/forms.py
/proj/proj/assets/models.py
/proj/proj/assets/urls.py
/proj/proj/assets/views.py
/proj/proj/audits/
...

In the case of a CRUD-like application, you can leverage the built-in Django Generic Views pretty heavily. Put your serialization/deserialization logic in forms.py, your visual content in templates, your objects/business logic in models.py, your routes in urls.py, and your model-to-visual glue in views.py.

Edit: realized from other comments that I'm not super clear here. I don't create a different app for each model, but a different app for each "business object". Each business object app, like "assets" is going to most likely have a LOT of associated models, but to the end user, it's just one big concept.

Beautiful!!

Post-its!

Thank you!!

I have these adorable elephant sticky notes on my under $10 wishlist. They're so cute. My laptop is always covered in little sticky note reminders to myself, so it would be fun if they were actually adorable stickies rather than just boring square ones. :P

Not only because of mod-related duties, and not just because she's in the helping profession, but because she's been patiently answering every question MrStoryDone and I can think of (pertaining to going on a disney cruise).
