This is super cool! I don't sleep, so this will keep me entertained for a bit!
1.) Something that is grey.
Well, it's more silver-ish, but it'll do! (WL)
2.) Something reminiscent of rain.
Because the sound of the rain is so peaceful :)
3.) Something food related that is unusual.
I know, it is unusual! We will be using it for liquid sugar that we make, to make our homemade Starbucks green tea :) (WL)
4.) Something on your list that is for someone other than yourself. Tell me who it's for and why. (Yes, pets count!)
It's for my boyfriend, and for the aforementioned green teas we make :) I have one, and he's pretty jealous of it. Not to mention he spills so! (WL)
5.) A book I should read! I am an avid reader, so take your best shot and tell me why I need to read it!
It's called Jesus' Son. It is really...interesting to say the least, and I can guarantee not at all what you'd expect! (Unless you're expecting drugs, and the main character to be called Fuckhead!)
6.) An item that is less than a dollar, including shipping... that is not jewelry, nail polish, and or hair related!
Clever? Or wrong. Lol.
7.) Something related to cats. I love cats! (keep this SFW, you know who you are...)
Because who doesn't miss these guys?
8.) Something that is not useful, but so beautiful you must have it.
I mean...he's beautiful, so.... <3
9.) A movie everyone should watch at least once in their life. Why?
My username is a big hint to what this movie is! It's just so happy, and makes me laugh every time I watch it (and I've been watching it multiple times every year since it came out, and I was only 5!). It's just a genuinely happy, feel-good movie, with great music :)
10.) Something that would be useful when the zombies attack. Explain.
You know, for heat/fire when there's no electricity! (WL)
11.) Something that would have a profound impact on your life and help you to achieve your current goals.
It might not be the norm, but it's a gift card. Reason being instead of something specific, is with a gift card I can buy food through Amazon. Times have been a little tough around here, and we barely make it through the month money, and food wise. To know I had a little money to spend on groceries somewhere would be a major relief, and put both my boyfriend and I out of stress. I know it's not a "goal goal", but our happiness is a goal of mine, and it's been a little shakey as of late :/(WL)
12.) One of those pesky Add-On items.
Because ours is torn, oops! (WL)
13.) The most expensive thing on your list. Your dream item. Why?
A nice, damn vacuum. Our current one sucks (bad pun), and I am really picky about a clean carpet. It would just be really nice to have a nice one, and that'll last instead of having to buy a new one every so often. (WL)
14.) Something bigger than a bread box. EDIT A bread box is typically similar in size to a microwave.
Because it never occurred to me you could buy this on Amazon!
15.) Something smaller than a golf ball.
Individually, smaller than a golfball!
16.) Something that smells wonderful.
I love, love, loooooove this perfume. I've had samples, but never the whole bottle! (WL)
17.) A (SFW) toy.
Not a toy per say, but it's definitely fun, and entertaining for hours! (WL)
18.) Something that would be helpful for going back to school.
Pens! Believe it or not, these have always been my favorite, and despite the fact there's a bunch in a box, I always ended up with none! That's why people should have their own!
19.) Something related to your current obsession, whatever that may be.
Because I...I'm...I'm a woman possessed. Normally I'm obsessed with Sherlock but since it's not out yet, I'm catching up on Doctor Who, and I can't. Just can't stop. Been talking in a British accent on accident for days! I also freaking love hoodies so it's the best of both worlds. (WL)
20.) Something that is just so amazing and awe-inspiring that I simply must see it. Explain why it is so grand.
BECAUSE LOOK AT IT! Making tasty foods on it for the belly! (WL)
Hey, this was a lot of fun! Regardless of the outcome, thank you. Thoroughly enjoyed myself :)
EDIT: BONUS: Anything made in Oregon.
It's a whole gift set! It's like it knew! I actually added it to my WL. My favorite jam was taken off the shelves, so I'm always up for trying new ones :)
fear cuts deeper than swords
I love my Klymit. The thing folds up to the size of a Nalgene bottle and is way more comfortable than you'd expect. I'm 5'10, 190lbs and like to sleep on my side and sleep great on this.
Other alternative (which is decidedly NOT convenient and is bulky, but is insanely comfortable if you're going car camping or using it stationary in your apartment and don't need to lug it around) is getting a memory foam mattress like this. I pull this out when friends crash at my apartment and they have all raved about how comfy it is. It's also great for cold weather camping, since the foam is a great insulator. I had this one on a trip that got down to 37 overnight and it kept me super toasty.
This mattress that I got for it's portability. It folds into thirds which makes it easy to transport in my CR-V with all my other stuff.
Since you mentioned folding a section of the bed, this could potentially be a good option as it's designed to fold itself. Although I'm not sure if they make a bigger version that a twin or not.
This mattress seems similar in concept though, and comes in full size. And the fold pattern actually looks like it might be better too for your needs. But of course measure first.
I can't speak for the second mattress I linked, but the first one is very comfortable despite only being 3" thick. I'd guess the second one is good too.
Best of luck, and I'd definitely love to see what you come up with!
Not OP, but I have this couch and love it. It's great for a tight space and reversible. I got the dark grey and it's actually blue, fortunately the blue looks really good in my space. Good luck in your couch search!
Thank you!
Edit: For visibility the answer to the questions from my post below but ill keep adding to it as needed:
Thanks for the love yall, was kinda in the dumps today so the kind words are so much appreciated. For the questions:
The couch is Poundex Bobkona on amazon (bout $750)
Poundex Bokona Miter Bonded Leather 2 Piece Sectional, Espresso https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00X9VB72W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_QulHzb4SB1GKZ
The mural is from Wall26 on Amazon(under $100) and its mounted on plywood boards from the hardware store. The mural has a sticky back that sticks to the boards. Then I rest the boards on the ground and nail them to the walls with very small nails.
Wall26 - Green Vines Dropping to a Cement Wall - Wall Mural, Removable Wallpaper, Home Decor - 100x144 inches https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EJM2XEK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_kdqHzb3ZVD48S
Daytime pic album without rgb lights:
https://goo.gl/photos/u8nySA6RhHGRTT9i8
Tv stands are just wood boards from hardware store (very poorly) nailed together and then spray painted. Bout 40 bucks for both tv stands.
Floor lamps are by Ikea those are like 25-30 a piece if I recall.
Bed in the album was made by taking king size bed slats sold on amazon, taking another set of large plywood laid over the slats, then laying vinyl flooring over that. About 100 usd in total supplies. Heres the slats:
Classic Brands Heavy Duty King Wooden Bed Slats Bunkie Board Frame for Any Mattress Type https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NVLHBWA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_L2BHzb6QESBGM
Leaning shelf was from Target or Wal-Mart but its been about 10 yrs so idk. I know they came in set of 3 then thats about it.
The fireplace tables are by me - i just started it about a yr ago the one in the pic isnt available quite yet.
www.northern-elements.com
(Id be happy to give one away once a month to top posts if mods are into that sort of thing.)
The lights are about 20 bucks
Led Strip,TOPMAX 5050 16.4ft/5m RGB Led Strips Lighting Kit,Led Strip Lights+12V 3A Charger Power Supply(built-in IC and fuse)+44 Key Remote https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01J51HHSW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_aSBHzbS0KHXAM
Im not a designer but I pick a color scheme, espresso brown and gray for me, and stick with it. start with that and design around it. Anything that isnt a heated surface can be spray painted especially cheap stuff and when nothing jumps out bc its a standout color from the scheme the whole space is the focus and nobody notices cheap or homemade items.
Apartments here mean i cant paint walls so covering lots of blank spaces cost effectively without over stuffing is a big consideration for me along with moving alot and ensuring the space isnt over customized to me.
You're going to be hard pressed to find a comfortable futon in that price range. I would recommend trying craigslist, where you could probably find a higher quality item for less money. If you live in a college town, there will be lots of furniture turnover this time of year (and at the end of the semester/school year.)
If you're not into buying something used, ikea has a pull-out sofa bed that's close to your budget, but reviews say it's really bare minimum as far as sleeping comfort goes. You can always get a memory foam mattress pad to put over it when it's being slept on.
If you'd prefer an actual futon-type couch, I'd avoid the cheap ones where the back clicks down to create a sleeping area, like this. They're almost always too small to sleep on and have an uncomfortable bar down the middle. The ones where the frame clicks down but the mattress is one separate piece are better, but more expensive.
Good luck!
Hellllllllllpppppp
I've always struggled to find a sectional I like and now I found one I LOVE but it only comes in 2 shades of grey and I don't know how it will look with the tables I've picked out and the general colour scheme of rich jewel tones (which I have picked)
I haven't gotten any of the things I'm linking yet and won't be for a while (because dreams are expensive) but can someone see if they can picture these today with jewel tones blankets and pillows (rich burgundies, deep purple, royal blues, etc)
Light Sofa
Dark Sofa

Ikea is of better quality than West Elm furniture, IMO. At least it can last for a few years, and you can resell it super easily once you get tired of it.
+1 for article. Very well made and cool silhouettes.
Take a look at Amazon's new furniture line as it's been getting great reviews: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071FMSY5S
Also Wayfair/AllModern have some cool well-reviewed pieces (Same inventory, be sure to check the prices between the two sites as they differ:

Option 2
Option 3
This guy: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00ENUILB8/ref=pd_aw_sim_sbs_196_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=ZV6CAKKY774D0HX64Y62&dpPl=1&dpID=71erpP5cgLL
Have been pleasantly surprised by it so far! I thought it would feel totally ok, but I've really liked it! The folding dimensions work perfectly for us - big enough to spread out on during the day, then fold out to full size at night. We have a Leesa (similar to Casper) at home and it hasn't felt like we have up much in terms of comfort.
Best Choice Products 4" Folding Portable Mattress Full https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01INZBCJG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_0rDZzbBM7KEDZ
I got the full size. I also recommend the camper van sheets from target to make your car look super fancy. It makes everything easy to keep clean.
Edit- more info
Just trust me. We have the love seat/recliners and we’re obsessed. We actually had to sell our first one when we moved cross country and we tried other couches but nothing compares so we bought it again lol
Homelegance 9636-3 Laurelton Textured Plush Microfiber Motion Reclining Sofa, Chocolate Brown https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00G6IFC12/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_xqAFAbZR5XMHM
Homelegance 9636-2 Laurelton Textured Plush Microfiber Dual Glider Recliner Love Seat with Console, Chocolate Brown https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00G6IFBY0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_VrAFAbVKFQKMK
If you have the space to transport get a folding foam mattress like this one.
Best Choice Products 4in Thick Folding Portable Full Mattress Topper w/ High-Density Foam, Washable Cover https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01INZBCJG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_b6rlDb7ACS9NC
Almost as good as sleeping on a real mattress.
Then the pro move is to get a folding bed frame with tall legs. This frame will fit above most storage bins, definitely the blacks ones with yellow lids! Now you don’t have to sleep on the floor AND you have storage for your bins!
Zinus Casey 18 Inch Premium SmartBase Mattress Foundation / 4 Extra Inches high for Under-bed Storage / Platform Bed Frame / Box Spring Replacement / Strong / Sturdy / Quiet Noise-Free, Full https://www.amazon.com/dp/B017YETJFG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_M-rlDbTKAH4X0
I got the full size mattress and frame and it’s turned our 10x14 Kodiak into an actual bedroom.
This Amazon one seems to be the closest in style/quality to the one in your picture (minus the massaging), while this other one is the closest I could find to yours that has massaging (although it seems a little nicer).
If it has massaging I would be inclined to believe it is at least on the higher end side, and the nice clean office seems to further support that. Analyzing the picture you can see they have a clean carpet, thick blinds, a solid desk, and plenty of empty space which would suggest the person selling it is most likely decently well off.
As far as I can tell, it's probably not junk, but checking it out in person should help you get a better idea.
Get an L shaped couch that fits the space. Something sleek in dark rich brown leather would look good - more modern like this:
Poundex Bobkona Belinda Bonded Leather SECTIONAL in Espresso https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MPZJ6BP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_oLTDzbPVP4SAT
Turn the back so it's against the edge of the rug/tile line.
Relocate tv to optimal viewing wall. Add a coffee table. I like the rug. Get some lamps.
I honestly enjoyed the mattress as much as my bed at home. It's this one off Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01INZBCJG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_JSGUzb0GYEEBC
Just had to open it up and let it air out a day or two to fully expand and you're good to go.
Do you have to keep the couches? I think maybe a gray sectional would look better. The brown couches don’t flow well with the space, IMO. Even just couch and love seat or couch and chair would look good too. Just something more modern and not brown and lumpy.
I couldn’t find the one I was thinking of, it’s from Costco though. But it’s dark gray and similar to this
you might one something like this one or like this one here, by the way, you have an awesome wall for canvas art something like this
Ohh! I love this purple velvet sofa / chaise.
and this gothic style chandelier and candle holders and this kick ass tapestry.
This end table is awesome
and this castle inspired display cabinet. (Unfortunately its matching pieces are hella expensive.)
Check out this mirror
and these throw pillows are cool too :)
I have one of theseand im extremely happy with it. More comfortable than my old bed. I have arthritis in my spine too, so that says a lot.
Im actually going to get another one soon. I have a 24” one and gonna get a 36 or 48... luxury. Lol.
Just seen edit 2.
Get yourself a sofa bed in this style:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014KPM8XM/ref=sbl_dpx_B008X9S8TK_0
I have one similar. As a sofa it is very comfortable, and does not look like a bed at all. To fold it down flat takes about 15 seconds.
Edit: Just measured mine. It is 190cm, so will easily fit across the short wall. Even enough space for a small 40cm cupboard next to it into which you can stuff your duvet, pillows and sheets.
Edit 2: I am in UK. Bought mine, in great condition, for £50 off Facebook Marketplace. That is far less than you would spend on wood.
Ours we purchased years ago from a local vendor; it is pretty much a standard model. Let me see if I can find an equivalent.
https://www.amazon.com/Ashley-Furniture-Signature-Design-Sleeper/dp/B01GVOW2JK
However, if you are interested in the Rolls Royce of sofa beds, take a look at the ones from Natuzzi: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5-EdQSTx1g
Amazon actually sells one of the Natuzzi sofas for half off.
Prices for sofa beds are all over the map, from less than $200 to the Natuzzi. I do not like the ones where either the mattress is really a bunch of little pillows stuck together (like this: https://www.amazon.com/Rivet-Elliot-Easy-Pull-Modern-Sofa/dp/B071LTB14G) or any system where you can't pre-make the sheets on the bed (I'm looking at you, Ikea).
For comfort, you want a queen sized mattress that is one piece and decent quality. After that, ease of setup counts a bit.
It fits over the wheel wheels! And you're right, the storage "box" is slightly above the height of the folded down back seats. There's metal brackets on the leafs and it all just fits enough that it's snug and doesn't move around when set up.
I have a sketch with some measurements written on it that I'll dig up for you. Mattress I got from Amazon, wood is just 3/4th inch Furniture wood from Home Depot.

Works great, I've driven a 500 miles with it permanently in the back and haven't had any problem with movement or shifting. Also is a good way to organize the trunk.

This is what I bought for our car camping. It’s light and easy to transport.
Ok, and for that area of the world, is that better than the norm for her financial situation, less than, or the norm? To me it seems like it would be either the norm, or a little better.
I have slept on the damn floor with no mattress for longer than I'd like to admit, and or slept on one these for probably 6+ Months. https://www.amazon.com/Sleeper-Folding-Foldable-Density-Pounds/dp/B00G2RYF4C/ except a much cheaper version. As for no closet? I haven't had a closet in... well I have no clue probably 10+ years. My point is not having a closet is not really a big deal.
I have a folding mattress.
This one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01INZBCJG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
it works great! granted, I don't need anything super cush, and I almost never fold it, but I like it. i'll probably get a topper at some point for it. I wouldn't pay $200 I don't think. they aren't that cozy.
Maybe something like this. If you want more height for using it as a sofa, you can put it up on a platform (maybe stack some pallets?), and just pull it down onto the floor at night

I'm not a vandweller but saw your post on /r/all. Would a hammock be possible? What about an all-foam mattress, and cut it narrower (or fold it in half)? Or something like this
or this
