I LOVE soups, hubby gifted me this book and I've not made a recipe that didn't turn out great. http://amzn.to/1rwu6p6

I recently got into soup when I spent time in Minneapolis and just started getting good cookware and ingredients for soups. Last week I made roasted poblano corn chowder with bacon, chicken and sharp cheddar. Here is a good soup book that's free on the Amazon Lending Library, I used the recipe from it.

I really like Potato & Leek (with Bacon) or White Pea & Ham this time of the year. I also like making Lentils with italian sausage and veggies. I just moved, don't have a freezer, but want to try making/freezing stock next time I buy a whole chicken. I use that boullion paste stuff in the refrigerator instead of stock right now.

Cumin-roasted carrot and parsnip

Gruyere and Mushroom Tart I have no idea what the hell "shortening" is, I just make some shortcrust pastry.

Lancashire cheese, beetroot and orange zest pie you could use something a little less strong instead of the mayo, like sour cream, creme fraiche, or cream cheese - this makes the other flavours stand out a bit more. Grate in the zest of one orange per 4 servings, and serve with a little bit of chutney on top - preferably one that isn't too sweet.

Carrot and Coriander Soup: I got that from This book. I'm hesitant to copy out cookbook recipes on the internet, but I'd recommend buying this one. I found it on the US site for you (I'm assuming you're American), but I'm not sure how much it would cost you, since it's a British book. It's definitely worth having though.

This book has some really nice photographs of soup. I'd recommend it for getting some ideas for photography of soup - and recipes.

I will forever recommend the Instant Pot Bible due to it being extremely layman and answering just about any question you could have while making any recipe, plus the customizable "Roadmap" recipes.

I have THIS book.

It does stick a finger in the nose of French cooking, and I don't particularly like the style of the attitude of the preference for a slow cooker for haute cuisine. But if you're stuck on the idea of slow-cooking French recipes, there it is, in all its glory.

Tomato and red pepper or butternut squash are my go tos, depending on the season. However, a few months ago I picked up this soup cookbook and have made several of the recipes in it. I have yet to be disappointed.
