  1. this + 2 of these + this add up about right.

  2. The person I love the most are really two people...my kids. The main reason I love them the most is because they are my offspring, but there's so much more to it than that. Kid #1 is funny, extremely talented, and despite having been through a bunch of tough stuff, he's turning into such a great young man. I don't think he gets just how proud of him I am. Kid # 2 marches to the beat of his own drum, stays true to himself, and has a heart of gold. He's always there with a hug and "I love you Mom." They make me a better person for having been in my life, and they teach me more than they'll ever know.

In all things storage, think "vertical" or "hidden"/"built-in" to save space.

  • Get a bed and bedframe, and put rolling storage containers underneath for your clothes. It saves space AND likely doesn't cost as much as a dresser. Example.
  • Use a hanging shoe organizer on the back of your door to store stuff. One idea: Use it to store your food more efficiently. Example.
  • You need more lighting. It's much cheaper (and looks cooler) to hang up lights on the ceiling. Think of draping them in a zig-zag from one end of the room to the other. Cafe lights look awesome.
  • You'll probably still need at least one extra lamp, though. Tripod lamps look great.
  • Your bed will be the feature of your room for years; make it look good! Get a light grey or cream-colored duvet, two big white pillows (to sleep on), some decorative grey pillows, and one faux leather lumbar pillow in cognac, to put it in front of the grey pillows and tie it all together.
    • Go one step fancier and get a blanket to drape over the bed. Navy blue or emerald green would look good. (Bonus: You have a blanket to curl up with.)
  • Get nesting tables. These can double as your coffee table, eating space, and extra table space when you have friends over, but will "nest" when the extra table space isn't needed, saving space.
  • This rug (2115, in navy blue) would look great in the space, it's affordable, and the darker color will be more forgiving of heavy traffic.
  • If you can only get one plant, either get pothos or monstera. Both make big statements.

Obviously you need a desk and a chair, and probably some bookshelves, but these are the big things I thought of. Good luck!

OMG this is so cool. Definitely think a nice coffee table would work well here - something to rest your feet on while you're jamming on the guitar, or rest your beer on!

I really like these simple shelves, where you can lean some of your favourite vinyl covers and switch them round if you get tired of any of them. Definitely some band posters - if you can find some ones that match the decor would be particularly cool. Like this, this or this. Reds, blacks, whites, browns, purples etc.

I would get a few nice cushions to sit back in. How about something fun to continue the music theme?

I actually really like the rug you've got - I think it works perfectly for a music room - but it's probably too small. If you could basically find the same but twice the size, that'd be awesome.

Okay and just as a totally bold idea (bear with me)... how about a cow skull on the wall? Could give this room a really cool Americana feel, if that's your thing. I'd put it directly above the piano. That vintage oldschool vintage feel is so perfect for a music room. Can also be achieved with a cow hide on the floor or a sheepskin flung over the sofa.

You could also paint one feature wall (the one behind the sofa) a deep red. And you can't go wrong with a couple of really big plants.

Also... here's a crazy idea for a table to go in the corner!! This could go where the red lamp is currently... plus it's a table and lamp in one!

Your pic of the second wall is broken, FYI!

Usual disclaimer: I'm using Overstock as a quick and easy source of products/examples but obviously you can get stuff wherever. If you're willing to sift through lots of crap, Craigslist can be a fantastic source for nice secondhand things (I say this as someone who has furnished most of my house from CL).

  • Rug: go big or go home! I don't know dimensions but I'd say 8 x 10 at a minimum. You want all your couch legs to sit on it, to establish the living room area. I'd go with a lighter rug (so the room doesn't feel too dark) and a subtle pattern (so you don't get tired of looking at it). If you eat on your couch, I might recommend a flatweave rug, as liquids tend to bead up if spilled, making cleaning easier. Here's an example of a flatweave rug in a basic geometric pattern.

  • Ditto for the dining room area -- a rug under that table and chairs will make it look much more intentional. Flor tiles (or similar) or Ruggables are a good option if you worry about stains. Make sure it's big enough that a person can scooch their chair back and stand up without the chair falling off the edge of the rug.

  • Couch could use a couple of throw pillows, maybe oversized ones? You can find gazillions of patterns and colors on Amazon. Look for covers that pick up colors in whatever rug you decide on.

  • Because the couch is so deep, it won't be super comfortable for someone sitting on it to lean alllll the way forward to that coffee table to get a drink or whatever. The table is also pretty pointy and hard -- banged shin, anyone? If possible, I'd suggest replacing it with something round for visual contrast and fewer bruises. And then I'd put a narrow end table with a lamp on the side of the couch with the arm.

  • I see there's a bulb hanging over the dining table. See if you can find a cool shade that you can hang on that to make it look more intentional.

  • For big-leafed plants, fiddle-leaf figs look great. Also schefflera, dracaena, rubber plants.

Your place has a few issues but it's not a disaster.

The Bed:

Can you afford a new comforter? You need something on that bed that droops down to hide the beginning of the bed's skirts. You don't really have the kind of bed to pull off tightened sheets.

Could you perhaps move the small Ikea table, turn your bed 90 degrees, move it away from the wall with the three pictures and put the cow skin on your bed?

Try it and post a picture. You have nice wood floors, and I don't think they need a rug to be perfectly honest... I do think you'd be better off not having that small table, turning your bed, and getting two bed-stands.

Colour:

Your room lacks colour. Your initial post was about making the place more cozy. Turning a nearly monochromatic environment into something that feels cozy suggests a need warm colour accents. I suggest getting these, they are cheap, colourful, and many of them are quite masculine.

Gaming stuff/gun/bomb:

You only have a single room to work with, so space is at a premium. The stormtrooper, and Groot actually work. The gun and the nuke, don't. But there might be a way to make them work..

If you want to make your place cozy, the nuke and the gun would most likely need to go entirely, but barring that: you could put them into a wall mounted, (possibly glass-doored, depending on what kind of shelf you'd go with) shelf. But the imperative there would be to have a wooden shelf.

If you turned your bed 90 degrees, and got one very long and thin piece of pine (carefully choosing said piece of pine so that it's a pretty piece...), and you got faux-old posts to support it, you could theoretically use it as a shelf for the nuke, the gun, and use the "shelf" as an accent and bed-stands.

Desk:

Another thing you could look into to make your place cozier is to change that desk. You need something with a different look, possibly a different colour might simply work. So you could look into getting something lighter that would go on top of the desk.

Flooring:

You have light coloured wooden floors, if you want cozy, uncover them.

I like this pillow cover. You could get a pillow to put in it if she doesn't have one.

Also, my mom really likes things that I make myself. What about doing a scrapbook of some pictures? You can get a small book at a craft store and use anything you already have to create a really cool book. You can add notes about how you feel in pictures, or what the photo's are of, you can add in cards she gave you or things from when you were a kid. The possibilities are endless really. Plus, it's cheap and a very thoughtful gift. :)

If I should win, I would like Bomb entries please.

I found some:

  1. Rug - this is more likely smaller or you can choose a desired size. And more on boho style rug.
  2. Curtains - Check this one. It actually give more effect on the living room because it's red.
  3. Pillows/blanket - For the blanket, I prefer white like this. To make it more lighter because your couch is black. For the pillows, you can actually choose 2 colors that would compliment your blanket but at the same time boho style. but not too muchlike this.
  4. For the art above the couch- It more likely good to hang some panel wall art. The large size. I think apush pin world map is great cause you're travelling. You can pin places you visited there.

Then, to make it more lively, try to change your lighting to brighter one.

One of the neatest things I found for myself and a friend recently is a bracelet with the symbol for the deathly hallows on it. She and I both love Harry Potter and we even took a trip two years ago to the park (I'm going back soon!). When I saw the bracelets and that you can get them in different colors I ordered two...one for me and one for her in her favorite color, she was pretty excited and now we both wear them. :D

I found two smaller things that you NEED because I noticed you have the sweetest looking doggo! So this festive pillow would be amazing! If you celebrate a different holiday or do not celebrate, then disregard, I apologize!

And every new house needs a welcome mat and this one is so cute!

Also, CONGRATULATIONS!!! Buying a house is such a big deal and I’m so so happy for you! It’s not an easy thing to do and you did it!

We certainly aren't the first ones to do a pillow (or something other than a book) but I'm so happy we did it this way! My daughter is obsessed with it (and, okay, I am too)

How I did it:
Bought this pillow cover for 7 bucks on amazon (they have a few other princesses at the moment. And they're on prime, score!) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DKJNZPE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_uAwdBb7Z9H095
Then I put a piece of cardboard inside that took up about 1/6th of the pillow. That way we'd have a hard/flat surface for the char's to sign, and I could fold the pillow into a neat little rectangle to tuck in my bag. It also allowed me to fold over to the spot we wanted each character to sign and hand it to them with that area up so they'd know right where to go. None of them had any problem with it! The princesses especially loved it.
When we got home I (painstakingly) traced over each autograph with screenprinting ink and a paintbrush. That part took way longer than I planned (screenprinting ink can be goopy and isn't really meant to be painted, but it did the job). In the end it was worth it. Now I'm not worried about it getting dirty and having to clean it, or the autographs fading over time.

I think you could pull that curtain off! If it doesn't seem quite right in person, I would suggest some pillow covers to really tie things together. Something with a large print pattern and something with more blue. I love rearranging and changing my styles, pillow covers are my best friend. 😄

Home sweet home needs a gorgeous accented Coffee Table

A Room divider although I'm not sure how well this fits your theme I think it's pretty.

A Jewelry Box and Another one

Some wall Mirrors Mirror2

We have One Two and Three Cabinet knobs.

I think these Suitcases would be good for storage and decor. Here's Another with a different Finish.

Floral Curtains

Quilt Rack?

One Two Three Four Pillow designs.

I think that's all for now xD Hope I stuck with the theme okay.

EDIT: I thought a Cuckoo Clock would be cool but that might stray a bit from the English part of the decor xD
