Play-doh

Cheap, perfect size, the seal is very good for moisture control.

Multiple colours means its easy to know whats in each without huge labels, they wont break, they come with play-doh :) they block the light (at least the UV rays) and you could hide them in plain sight, the perfect weed container really.

I was thinking textures but play doh spaghetti sounds amazing!

I think that sanitizing a toddler-style Play-Doh Fun Factory and making gnocchi or ziti with it would be a good one to try. Sure, you'd only be able to load about an ounce of dough at a time, but just think of the looks you'd get. (Plus: "And now, to make the spaghetti, let me just set up the Fuzzy Pumper Barber Shop...")

Shoot, now I have the urge to open a restaurant where the gimmick is that all the food is prepared using only toddler toys. Why put a steak in a sous-vide bath for 6 hours when you can cook it in an Easy-Bake Oven almost as quickly?

Not QUITE a 3d printer, but safe enough for kids. Also, there is a pie kit for playdoh as well.

Your eyes open in anticipation, and you stare at something you haven't seen for a very, very long time. You gently spread it, and an all too familiar smell hits your nostrils. You shudder, unsure if it's due to excitement, or something else.

"Jack, Jill!" You call, waiting for your children to come in to the room. You have a sneaking suspicion that the kids will enjoy this playtime as much as you do, if not more.

Seconded. Polymer clay could work well for this. That way you could cure it in the oven. Air-dry clay would work well for this too and may give you a more rugged appearance like they belong in-game.

I've made stands for various devices out of air dry clay. Cover the device with saran wrap and smoosh it down into a block of clay. wiggle it around a little so it will have a little space for play and let it dry a day or so. Paint or leave plain.
