I bought this one a long time ago and have just gotten around to using it: https://www.amazon.com/Hop-Spider-Adjustable-Hook-14/dp/B079TJLDNB/ref=asc_df_B079TJLDNB/. I fabricated a bar across the top so it would suspend in my kettle. Long story short, I use an electric kettle and it's just fine sitting on the bottom of the kettle without being suspended. When I pull it from the wort, I typically angle it and am able to get all the wort out of the screen. I've added 5 or so ounces of hops without an issue. I use a plate chiller and have not had any debris issues with my chiller.

I have never had this happen in one of my brews. I always stir the wort with a big paddle after the sparge and when it starts to boil. I do not use a bag. How many pounds of grain?

Could be a fancy mash paddle.

Edit:
Did your grandfather brew his own beer, or distill his own liquor?
Here’s an example of one:

Are those the ones with a draw string and tightly wove? I'm talking about these guys.

If it is the expensive ones and not just a rip off, boiling or soaking in StarSan works.

That is a mash paddle and large spoon used in brewing beer
