This is what I have, the Bosca Excursion bag, nabbed it on a flash sale on Gilt.

Only seem to find it on Amazon now, but I love it. I am able to keep some sneakers, gym clothes in it. Plus with the 2 flaps in the front which tuck in and have magnets I can keep my phone and wallet. The bigger zipper I keep a tablet.

An in on the smaller pockets on the outside which also stay closed with magnets I keep my gym lock.

I commute by train, so handy to carry all this, plus I keep some snacks in there for the day, like pre-workout drink, and my post workout powder.

Biz-casual for me usually, but have carried when wearing suit.

So Iā€™m of two minds.

My Osprey is a wonderful backpack that also works as carryon luggage. You can actually zip up the belt and shoulder straps and convert it to a true piece of rectangular luggage with a larger shoulder strap. I have it in black, XL.

But for a more traditional rollerboard The Delsey Luggage Helium Titanium is great and inexpensive.

Take a look at both. I use the Osprey as my daily work bag as well. Really the Osprey gets used 95% of the time. Unless we are going to a wedding or a funeral.

Here are some details on my travel setup:

Qualls: I consider myself an experienced traveler. I travel every week for work, sometimes to 3 different cities. 250,000 Butt in Seat Miles last year, 45,000 so far this year. Mostly domestic US.

Travel profile: Typical trip is 2 days long. So my profile is a little different from Grey-cations. However, Iā€™ve noted in addition what I do for longer family vacations of 1-2 weeks.

Non-tech: My suitcase must be able to fit in crappy regional jet overhead bins. Delsey Helium Aero International fits in CRJ700, CRJ900, and E175 Bins without issue. My Victorinox Slimline Toiletry Case holds my bathroom gear with no space left to spare. I keep 3 razors (gotta have backups for work) and importantly a toothbrush. A plain crappy toothbrush. This is my backup should my Sonicare die. I use packing cubes to arrange clothing. And I always travel with a thin linen scarf. That is my pro-tip. A thin scarf saves you on scrappy transport with bad AC. And my backpack is a Briggs and Riley Medium Backpack that, importantly, has a slip for the Delseyā€™s handle. Being able to take my backpack off and stand it on my suitcase is a major win.

Tech: Lenovo Yoga 370 (13ā€), iPhone 8+, Libratone Q-Adapt On-Ear Headphones, Kindle, Apple Watch, Sonicare.

Charging solutions: Griffin Travel Power Bank for Apple Watch is often enough for short trips, replaces my Apple cable with a micro USB, and is a small bedside stand. My microUSB cable fits my headphones, Griffin, and Kindle. None need constant charging so I rotate as needed. Power source is my laptop, even when in my backpack.

Phone is Lightning, of course, and laptop is USB-C. I use a Dart from FinSix. Looks like itā€™s out of stock at the moment. Innergie is coming out with a similar one shortly. Super small 65W charger. The Dart has an in-line USB-A charger to fit my lightning cable.

For international travel I just need 1 adapter then, for the Dart. I use this guy: if you donā€™t like this there are like 20 variants on Amazon by competitors Innergie promises to have interchangeable heads.

Thatā€™s it. For longer trips Iā€™ll take the Sonicare upright charger. And a bigger toothpaste.

After years of extensive travel with hard sided luggage for the whole family, have never had any break. I have the samsonite "s'cure" carryon and swear by it. Although hard sided luggage is currently popular, 99% of it is cheap and useless since it still has zippers. This luggage has a secure and waterproof o- ring with a proper tsa lock. It is also very light at 3 km or 6.6 lbs. Could last for 30 years or more. Oh and don't believe the silly claims that wheels take up 30 to 40 % of the luggage capacity. I love the protection it provides to electronics, as well as the security from wandering fingers everywhere including hotel rooms.

Excellent condition roll-a-board, spinner, wheeled suitcase for sale. Used for 2 domestic flights. Outside has a few minor scratches and the wheels are in great condition.

I used this with Basic Economy tickets with United (personal item/ under seat only). It worked very well. But like most have said, a regular backpack will also be fine.

I've carried this bag onto multiple SW flights.

https://www.amazon.com/Travelpro-Luggage-Lightweight-Expandable-Suitcase/dp/B07BL7JXHV/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=best+carry+on+luggage&qid=1570215464&sr=8-4

I highly recommend this brand of luggage. I have the carry-on above, and also bought their 25" version for a friend of mine. After destroying multiple cheap suitcases, I upgraded to good luggage 5 years ago. It was a really good decision financially. Don't let the price scare you off, good luggage pays for itself.

I have the LeSportsac Travel Tote. Not the most stylish, but definitely functional. I've had it for about 5 years and it has been on countless flights and weekend trips with minimal wear. One thing to note, is it is a lot larger than depicted in the photo. There is a section at the top that expands so it holds quite a bit!

u/Shortest_Giraffe Ā· 15 pointsr/hookah

You'll probably need a boxy suitcase, judging by the size of the base... something like This or This. Now unless you find something big enough I'd suggest disassembling the Hookah first. You'll get a more compressed fit into the aforementioned suitcase. Now fill the gaps with packing peanuts or newspaper, whatever you have readily available. Don't be afraid to really stuff it at this point. And Voila, you're ready to travel!

u/DuctTapeChainsaw Ā· 6 pointsr/magicTCG

If you're going to be flying with it, then I highly suggest not using a softshell bag of any kind. Use a hard clamshell style case with two locking points and spinner style combo locks with different combos on each locking point.

Why? Because I used to travel for business around the world and up to 8 months out of every year and airport theft has been a huge problem for me.

I started out with softshell cases, as a young naive business traveler, with no locks and learned my lesson the hard way after a very expensive camera was stolen from the middle of my bag by airport employees on a trip to Dubai.

Then I got a softshell case with interlocking zippers and I put a key lock on the zippers. When I got back from a trip to Las Vegas, my bags were late, ended up on the next flight and an expensive gun scope was missing from my bag. It turns out that airport employees with less than exemplary character carry around keychains with keys for all of the different standard TSA luggage locks.

So I finally said "screw this" and got a rolling, hard clamshell case with a pull handle and built in metal reinforced locking loops on both ends. Then I locked those with rolling combo locks (not spinning). Since then, I've never had anything stolen from a bag again.

As for the interior, there are literally thousands of different solutions. You could get foam that a lot of us tabletop wargamers use and simply make cutouts for all of your deck boxes, playmats, dice bags and water bottles, so they won't get banged around in an airplane cargo hold.

The bag I bought is not in production anymore, but if I were to buy another today for use as you described, then I would buy this one:

https://www.amazon.com/Multi-size-Aluminum-Luggage-Suitcase-TravelKing/dp/B07H3S1L89?th=1

But, Chainsaw, that bag is almost $300! Yes, it is. It's probably also going to last longer than you will, and most likely it will be transporting hundreds or thousands of dollars worth of cards and gear that are very important to you, so don't skimp and buy some cheapo camera bag with a zipper. That kind of thing is for going from your house to to game store, not for traveling around the country or the world with your favorite hobby possessions.

Not sure if this would work for carry on in EU but I'm really enjoying this one by Briggs & Riley.

You might also see if. you can find a Tom Bihn Aeronaut 30 or 45 on Ebay -- I have the 45 and love it. Have taken it to Spain and Thailand for 3+ weeks at a time with no problems.

I travel nearly every week for work (consultant). Here's what I recommend...

For your budget (~$150), buy something from Travelpro. Either their Crew 10 or Crew 11 carry-ons. A spinner isn't necessary.

If you can expand your budget, or when you know for sure you're serious about traveling all the time, get something from Briggs & Riley. Lifetime warranty, and totally bulletproof. They are on sale every now and then -- you might be able to snag one off of Sierra Trading Post or something as well. Or you can get Tumi too, but they are a bit overpriced, and the warranty isn't as great.

Do NOT get a duffle. You will hate lugging it around the airport. Also, get a soft sided or expandable luggage if possible. Trust me on this... when you are at a client and need to bring back present for your SO or that extra pair of gym shoes, you will thank me.

PS: Unrelated travel tip, but if you constantly travel to the same location, its nice to bring a small duffle bag, stick items in that you don't want to take back and forth (gym clothes, larger size toiletries, protein powder, etc.) and leave it at the hotel.

I posted a similar question a few months back and got all these same suggestions. I didn't want something that was expensive (Lulu) or somethign that looked like a padded lunch bag (FitMark and 6 Pack Bags).

I ended up getting this really cute Bungalow 360 bag.

There are a few small pockets, but it's really just a big duffel. Getting those packing cubes helps keep things organized, if you need that.

u/newguy8908 Ā· 1 pointr/travel

Thanks! I was looking for large bag. Let me know in case you have any specific ones.

This one looks good.

u/xtinamariet Ā· 1 pointr/femalefashionadvice

Le Sportsac!. Comes in lots of different sizes/prints. I have an extra large weekender (which is huge) and I love it.

u/mondodawg Ā· 6 pointsr/Enough_Sanders_Spam

This is the one I got, highly recommended:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016IO9N6I?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

Good dimensions for international trips too in case you happen to go

u/SwingNinja Ā· 1 pointr/solotravel

Just got back from a trip and saw a dude with a Tumi Alpha 2 carry-on like this. I want one. But 400+ USD is way too much. Any recommendation for similar carry on? I like it because it can expand a lot (11 inches).

u/loddist Ā· 1 pointr/backpacks

Another suggestion. Much cheaper but seems to tick the rest of your boxes. From swissgear. Has 4 colour choices (grey, green, purple, red).

https://www.amazon.com/SwissGear-3555333416-Hybrid-Blue/dp/B06XWCV9TK/

Between the choices you've put forward, I would personally immediately strikeout the Vandal for it's weight. I've grown to find that I don't like carrying heavy things for long periods for no reason. Even the Goruck is a bit too heavy for me. The other two bags don't seem to fit the look that you're looking for.

So the question becomes, what are you willing to sacrifice first, looks, comfort (weight), accessory choice?

I get the vibe hat these are important to you (in order):

  1. Looks and colour choice (not black)
  2. Laptop access and protection
  3. Larger than 25L (to fit 6' 2" size)

Is that right or is there more?
u/AgreeableAlpaca Ā· 6 pointsr/Amsterdam

One of the wheels on my carry-on luggage is broken. Where could I go to get it replaced? So far only found a place called Wentholt on google, but seems like they're only open during my working hours. I figure there might be some other repair shops out there worth a try. Preferably near the Pijp area. Luggage brand is Delsey, the wheels are similar to these.

Idk about this bag specifically.. The one I have is this one- https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HD1ZUA8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_LnShAbHWDHFXY and it fits overhead
