Here’s my list for guitar fusion enthusiasts:

  • Alex Machacek - 24 Tales Back story: Austrian guitarist Alex Machacek composed the 24 tracks of this disc around a 51-minute drum solo recorded by German drummer phenom, Marco Minneman. With the exception of the Minneman drum track and trombone solos on 3 tracks, Machacek plays all the instrumentation on this disc.

  • Jazz Pistols - Superstring

  • John McLaughlin - To The One

  • Lenny White - Anamoly

  • Allan Holdsworth - Blues for Tony Tirbute to drummer, Tony Williams

  • Wayne Krantz, Keith Carlock, Tim Lefebvre Krantz Carlock Lefebvre

[Easy Moe Bee will cream you like the nougat] (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0By_QUs9ep7oDbnJKM3NwNUdMVTg/view?usp=sharing) <--- DL here

I couldn't find it on youtube and [the EP is expensive] (http://www.amazon.com/Doo-Bop-Song-Miles-Davis/dp/B000UUMTQS/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1457165325&sr=8-3&keywords=doo+bop+single). I got it for like $5 a while back.

Absolutely the 1975 one from One From The Vault. Not to mention the sound is among the best ever released.

Also, if he is a big jazz head - then he needs to check this out:

you should watch Woman of Heart and Mind

Protip: There's a little button up there that lets you edit your original post.

In answer to your question: The lines between the classical and jazz genres are frequently blurred (look, for example, at Gershwin's orchestral music). In fact, the lines between any of the genres you mentioned can be blurred: jazz and hip-hop become rather muddled in albums like Miles Davis' Doo Bop.

That particular song you linked to would by most be categorized far closer to jazz than to classical, if only for the writer (Count Basie) and the performer (Nina Simone). Maybe try some other works that are just for piano and voice--try listening to a bit of Schubert's Winterreise and get back to me with your thoughts?

You might like Bill Frisell's The Willies, with Frisell on guitar and electronics, Danny Barnes on banjo, bass harmonica, and organ, and Keith Lowe on bass.

"Here" By Gridlock on Further

"Return to Forever" by Chick Corea on Return to Forever

"Ultravisitor" by Squarepusher on Ultravisitor

"Un poco sostenuto - Allegro" by Brahms, Symphony #1

"Oiseaux Tristes and Jeux D'eau", two pieces by Maurice Ravel.

I could go on and on and on.. the only reason I listen to fuckin' music is to escape reality, dude.

u/bobbysmith007 · 33 pointsr/Music

Not as bad as Miles Davis Pangea. It cost 17$ for the mp3 album or 1$ each for its two 45min tracks

What was on the cover? It wasn't this album, was it? https://www.amazon.com/Willies-Bill-Frisell/dp/B0000668K2

Also Joe Venuti, Regina Carter and Leroy Jenkins.

Check out that video, you'll start to get a good grip on Modes.

The key for me and it might not work for everyone, but it worked for me, was to look at the fretboard as a whole. It was only when I stopped looking at the fretboard as position 1, position 2...etc that I could finally get my training wheels off.
