Here's some more (Sorry I dont have access to speakers at work so Im kind of doing this off memory and I just get the songs confused bc there are so few words in most of these songs ..)

Yoga One - cosmopole by Cantoma introduced me to Essarai by Cantoma (which I LOVE too). I didnt get all the songs on this but I did buy a few.

I love Bonobo (Ketto, All In Forms, I cant remmber but maybe Kiara?, and Shadow Tricks <- might be a little "sexual" for a yoga class but I love it!)

Massive Attack's Teardrop, PROTECTION (especially)

Delerium - Remembrance and Silence, Enchanted (which I got off one of my favorite first time Chillout CDs ... )

I think Desert Dwellers have great yoga discs. I recommend Roots, then Waves. I havent really listened to the others though. I get random people consistently complimenting me on my Desert Dwellers discs.

I heard of someone making a hip hop yoga cd with songs like I Like the Way You Move - Outkast, Feel Me Flow by Naughty by Nature, Mr. Wendal by Arrested Dvlpt etc etc

I was taught to have music with no words and relaxing but if your goal is to put a smile on your face and just have fun, then put on some Britney! Who cares right?!

edit: total formatting fail.

My tastes run all over the map, so there's some chance these will be antithetical to your interests, but just in case...

I absolutely love the Estonian Philharmonic Choir, but especially this to begin relaxing you.

Next i would probably throw in some Mark Kozelek/Sun Kil Moon/Red House Painters, either [this](http://www.amazon.com/Bedtime-Lullaby/dp/B002QEPKPI/ "Bedtime Lullaby") or [this](http://www.amazon.com/Love-At-First-Feel/dp/B0010Q9O0U/ "Love At First Feel") are recommended.

I like Leonard Cohen as a contrast to Kozelek, specifically [this](http://www.amazon.com/So-Long-Marianne/dp/B00137ZFRC/ "So Long Marianne")

Next some Esperana Spalding, probably [this one](http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0019BTJWY/ "Fall In") because I'm a hopeless romantic.

This flows nicely into Donnie Hathaway's A Song For You.

And depending on whether you can take more uptempo, soulful stuff, Taj Mahal's got [all](http://www.amazon.com/Lovin-In-My-Babys-Eyes/dp/B0013832GM/ "Lovin In My Baby's Eyes") [kinds](http://www.amazon.com/Farther-On-Down-The-Road/dp/B0013AEZZM/ "Further On Down The Road") of good.

Next something like [this](http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012QHRCU/ "Jolie Holland - Wandering Angus")

Then maybe [Fink](http://www.amazon.com/Walking-In-The-Sun/dp/B0028EX7CO/ "Walking In The Sun"), this is highly recommended.

Which I'd follow with [this Boozoo Bajou track](http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002N8YA0I/ "Treat me feat. Willie Hutch")

And if you get too stimulated from all that, maybe a [Debussy track](http://www.amazon.com/Debussy-Prélude-laprès-midi-dun-faune/dp/B00122PFF0/ "Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune") to space it out a bit.

And of course I'd have to throw in one of my all time favorite songs, Andy Bey's Cosmic Blues.

These are just off the top of my head, I could probably spend hours listing more. Without knowing your tastes, it's kinda hard.

With no hints to your tastes, here's a quick selection of some of my favorite albums with some basic descriptions. Please let me know if you listen to . like any of them.

Juno - This Is The Way It Goes and Goes
A totally underrated and unheralded Seattle band. Now defunct, they released two albums and a handful of singles, you could call them indie and most closely relate them perhaps to My Bloody Valentine. They create, what my friend called, walls of sound with four guitars all layered together. This is the band I love that no one knows about.

[DJ Shadow - Endtroducing] (http://www.amazon.com/Endtroducing-DJ-Shadow/dp/B000005DQR/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1330569288&sr=8-1)
Essential, this album defined the "trip hop" genre (think rap music without the rap) and is a Guinness world record holder for the first album created entirely from samples.

[Radiohead - Kid A] (http://www.amazon.com/Kid-Radiohead/dp/B00004XONN/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1330569401&sr=8-1)
A classic.

Cannibal Ox - The Cold Vein
An underlooked "backpack" rap album. CanOx is also now defunct but this album is a spectacular alternative rap album.

Flying Lotus - Cosmogramma
My favorite album of 2011 2010, Flying Lotus is trippy electronic music, I feel like this album is so next level we won't even appreciate it for a few years.

The Fucking Champs - IV
The band with the awesome name, The Fucking Champs are (mostly) instrumental prog metal with custom made 9 string guitars.

The Hold Steady - Boys and Girls in America
What if Bruce Springsteen made music for late twenty something party kids?

J Dilla - Donuts
Essential. Dilla is the producer's producer, this is a beat tape, 30 some odd snippets of beats and ideas.

LCD Soundsystem - This Is Happening
LCD just broke up but their last album is, imo, their best. Percussion driven indie rock meets techno.

Lil' Wayne - Dedication 2
Say what you want about Lil' Wayne, Dedication 2 is the best thing he's ever done. This Wayne was untouchable.

Madvillain - Madvillainy
A rap album for the heads, this was two super powers coming together and is filled with so much imagination it sell makes my head explode.

Mogwai - Come on Die Young
Post-rock. A powerful moody record.

Say Anything - In Defense of the Genre
Punk is dead but Say Anything's 'In Defense of the Genre' is a spectacular eulogy.

XX - XX
My favorite album of the last ten years. It's dark, sparse, perfect rock.

Sufjan Stevens - Illinoise
A whole album made about Illinois and it works.

Burial - Untrue
Deep dark drum and bass (dubstep, not Skrillex dubstep). When it's late and you're walking the empty streets home a little drunk this is the album you want to listen to.

|name|Daft Punk|
|about artist|Daft Punk is a multi Grammy Award-winning electronic music duo formed in 1994 in Paris, France, and consisting of French musicians Thomas Bangalter (born 3 January 1975) and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo (born 8 February 1974). The band is considered one of the most successful electronic music collaborations of all time, both in album sales and in critical acclaim. Daft Punk reached significant popularity in the late 90s house movement in France, along with other artists such as Air, Cassius, and Dimitri From Paris. ([more on last.fm](http://www.last.fm/music/Daft Punk))|
|album|Until One, released Dec 2002|
|track|One More Time|
|about track|"One More Time" is a song by Daft Punk first released as a single on 13 November 2000 and later included in the 2001 album Discovery. The song's vocal performance by Romanthony is heavily auto-tuned and compressed. As part of the album, the track is featured in the introduction to the film Interstella 5555. "One More Time" remained their biggest commercial hit until 2013's get lucky. It nearly topped the United Kingdom chart in 2000, instead peaking at #2, and was one of their few charting songs in the United States, reaching #61 on the Billboard Hot 100. It is also featured in the Wii video game Boogie and PlayStation 3's SingStar. Marc Mysterio released a cover version of "One More Time" featuring the vocals of Yardi Don. The song is currently Daft Punk's only #1 single in their home country of France. The song is listed at #5 on Pitchfork Media's top 500 songs of the 2000s, and #33 on RollingStone's top 100 songs of the decade (2000–2009). "One More Time" prominently features a vocal performance written and sung by Romanthony. As stated by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, "we thought the funkiness of his voice fit the funkiness of the music." The song's vocal features heavy processing and auto-tuning. When questioned on the effects, Thomas Bangalter stated "A lot of people complain about musicians using Auto-Tune. It reminds me of the late '70s when musicians in France tried to ban the synthesizer... What they didn't see was that you could use those tools in a new way instead of just for replacing the instruments that came before." According to Bangalter, Romanthony enjoyed the alterations to his vocal on the track. "He has done a lot of different things and he always tries to innovate, which is what we like to do on our records. He never had his voice treated like an instrument like that." He also elaborated: “ We care less now than we used to about what critics say about our music. We liked the track, Romanthony liked it, we can be disappointed about what they said about the song, but still we liked it. It’s just music, it’s just entertainment, and as long as we believe in it that’s what is important. It’s what we wanted to do. We love to be able to use instruments the way we want to. Criticizing the Vocoder is like asking bands in the ’60s, ‘Why do you use the electric guitar?’ It’s just a tool... no big deal. Creation is interaction. The healthy thing is that people either loved it or hated it. At least people were not neutral. The worst thing when you make art is for people to not even be moved by it. Love and hate are interesting because it’s deep and intense. It’s one side of our music that people might be sensitive to and others might not.” The single contains an eight-minute version of "One More Time" featuring extended vocals absent from the album version. An "unplugged" version was also released in the remix album Daft Club. The remix album also contains a remix of "Aerodynamic" by Daft Punk featuring elements of "One More Time". The "short radio edit" of "One More Time" from the single was later included in the compilation album Musique Vol. 1 1993–2005. A live version of "One More Time" coupled with "Aerodynamic" is featured in the album Alive 2007. "One More Time" is believed to contain a sample of "More Spell on You" by Eddie Johns, but this is uncredited in the Discovery liner notes. Bangalter reportedly denied using any samples for the song.|

Happy anniversary indeed! I've been on reddit for a while, but not this community but for a month or so. It's a blast, and I certainly hope to be still gifting this time next year! What are your best memories? Maybe something awesome you received in this time, or words of wisdom you've given to others?

Thanks for the contest. This is a suggestion but I do prefer surprises!

Reviews of There Will Be No Armageddon (1995) by UnionJack (discogs):

>If you have never listened to this CD, stop what you are doing and find it, pronto! From start to finish Union Jack pulls you through a sonic soundscape that varies from beautiful and melodic to sinister. Tracks to live by would be "Two Full Moons and a Trout", "Red Herring", "Cactus", er,.....you know what? Id have to list them all!!...Every track is as unique as the last.

.

>This is a perfectly designed ambient trance cd that is wonderful on car stereos or surround sound, especially if one has hypersensivity for some reason or another~! But really though, this is one of the best trance cds I have ever heard... it is not like typical dj trance of oakenfold or lawrence, it is much more powerful and yet much more smooth. Its just the best blowup album ever, thats all.

.

>This album can help you sleep, wake you up, get you in the mood, get you out of the mood, etc, etc. It has the ability to enhance what you're feeling. If you like trance, Enigma or just music in general, you should give it a try.

This is a fantastic idea.

Declaration: I'm going to read more philosophy and psychology books and articles.

I'm making this change because I'm in graduate school, where I'm supposed to be doing this, but I've been reading one article a week at most. Feelings of Imposter Syndrome have become quite severe for me and are interfering with my mental health. I know the best way for me to take control of my mental health and of my career is to actively make changes that will give me control over my path and give me the tools and knowledge I need to feel confident and secure. That this could help me develop new projects certainly doesn't hurt, but in the end it's about taking accountability for my life, taking responsibility, and actively making a change that will prevent depression and anxiety.

Plan of action: I will start slow, so I don't burn out. I am going to aim to read 3 articles or book chapters per week for the first two weeks. Then five. Then seven. Then ten. I will track what I've read in my Moleskine and will create a word document or excel sheet summarizing each article/chapter.

Cheerleaders! /u/ReisaD, /u/glanmiregirl , /u/autumnfalln

Wishlist item: This External HDD, so I can store all of those papers I read!

Inspirational song: "Not Giving In" by Rudimental

u/CourtingEvil · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I really like a few songs from Ten by Girls Aloud. I think you can buy a few of the MP3s from Amazon, but not the whole album digitally. "Something New", "The Show" & "On The Metro" are three really good songs to rock out to in the car.

I also really enjoy Nothing But the Beat by David Guetta. It's an album that I can put on and listen to the whole thing, which doesn't happen very often! (I can also listen to Alive by Daft Punk)

ROAD TRIP! Surprises are awesome, too :)
