so i got mine through Amazon. It was a tad bit more expensive but I get free 2 day shipping and I needed them by this weekend cause I had plans to play. but here's the amazon links.

If you have more time I really likes a couple of other websites but just didn't want to pay $30 for 2 days shipping. And I highly suggest you check out Discraft website. They had every bit of information I was needing, from throwing videos, to videos explain all the different kinds of disc and helping me figure it all out. Their website and info was so good that's what made me want to use their disc! so ill link that too!
for help picking a disc look here:

For awesome video help and they even had a little graph like picture that shows some flight patterns of their disc.

Im sure a lot of other brands have all this same info, discraft is just what came up when I googled, and they made it all really easy for a newbie like me to understand! hope all this helps!

My gf started playing with me and we have a great time playing together. A surprise is great but as far as learning goes, it's hard to beat playing with and getting tips from more experienced players so don't leave it too long. As far as videos etc. youtube is a mix of the good, the bad and the ugly... Check out the beginner portal at my local clubs website as these are well chosen videos and good advice:
beginner-portal
As far as discs try as many as you can to see what works for you. My gf had some improvements with a Teebird but recently shifted to one of these as her go to disc Axiom-Inspire which worked well, improved her distances and accuracy, helped set new pb's and apparently most important of all "it's pretty!"
bestdiscgolfdiscs.com suggests a Valkyrie, Roc, and Aviar for 3 discs. They do use Amazon Pay but you can't use a gift card for that, which is why I assume you specify Amazon.
The problem with buying a set is they're just going to give you what ever they have but it will be cheaper than buying individually.
This Innova Set is decent, The TeeBird is my favorite Innova fairway drive and one of the best all around discs and it has a recommended Roc. I can't say anything about the Rhino but I think when you're starting out putters don't matter much. A similar Innoa Set This one is Leopard, Roc, and Aviar. So maybe this is a little safer as most players will agree that Roc and Aviar are solid discs. Then maybe throw in a GStar Valkyrie and you're just over $40 but you've got some solid discs.
This set of 4 Discraft goes right up to your budget but there's no listing of discs so it's a gamble. In the photo you see a Nuke which is a horrible disc for beginners.
This DGA set Is notable because they're all 150 class discs. Lighter discs can be good for absolute beginners but if you did play a little and can throw then light discs might be more of a burden. It all depends on your arm speed, I'd probably suggest this more for women and children. The Squall is a great beginner mid and the Reef is a solid putter. In normal plastic I'd say the Rogue is not good for beginners but being so light it might work.
The only reason I ever go down that way is to play disc golf - they have a really great course called Turkey Hill in LaPlata. It's free to play and a great hangout place for those of us who seek a higher plane of conciousness. Maybe get him a cool disc to go with the brews...https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BCQIGOC/ref=sspa_dk_detail_4?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B01BCQIGOC&pd_rd_w=0EQXm&pf_rd_p=8a8f3917-7900-4ce8-ad90-adf0d53c0985&pd_rd_wg=kY2VF&pf_rd_r=DBDRD0XN83B9EBTW241K&pd_rd_r=064a4f24-a313-11e9-b9fa-597a26e8a4d3
If your going to be ordering discs from Amazon they sell Dynamic which I really like. The Truth is a great flying mid range I enjoy slightly more than the Buzz.

Edit: This Prodigy D5 is a good understandable that I wish I'd had when I began. Just some more options, I know you said discraft but thought I'd put them out they're because they aren't over priced.

Well since we're discussing it in this thread, why not collaborate on something? Here's a start, feel free to offer suggestions and/or add to it.
I was going to throw some videos/channels to look at for technique but work is about to pick up so I don't have time right this second.
Beginner disc reccomendations:
First, disc down. You don't need a high speed driver as a beginner, because there's about a 99% chance you lack the proper arm speed and technique to throw it the way it needs to be thrown to fly properly.
With that said, here are some specific disc recommendations:
Fairway driver: Lat 64 River, Innova Teebird, Innova Leopard
Midrange: Innova Roc, Discraft Buzzz, Discraft Comet
Putter: Innova KC Aviar, Gateway Wizard (alternative is if you're lucky enough to be near a disc golf store, go there and pick up a few different putters, and buy whichever one feels comfortable in your hand)
There are also starter kits available via Amazon and various sporting goods stores. The most common being the Innova DX starter set (DX is a less durable type of plastic), the Innova Champion starter set (champion plastic is more durable). Discraft also makes starter sets, some with bags and some without.
You can buy discs individually at:
Not many people bring them up, but I watched a bunch of pro's using P1x's. I grabbed one and wasn't a huge fan at first, but I love them when they are broken in. They feel pretty cheap, but that just means they break in faster. They get pretty big gouges in them, but it honestly enhances their flight. I get an awesome long slow right turn on them with a little anhy. Also, when I get to the edge of my push put range (35feet), they don't fade in to the left like my other discs. They are an absolute steal at $7. I keep a few for practicing and so that I always have one broken in, just in case I lose one.
i have a disc i believe is called an omega super soft putter. It literally feels like a pencil eraser, and hardly ever bounces out if you hit chains.
http://www.amazon.com/Millennium-Omega-SuperSoft-Putter/dp/B005C2VQRM
Here it is on amazon, only disc i've ever loved as much as my leopard.
Didn't read all the comments but wanted to leave my $0.02.
I recommend the Innova Champion starter pack.
https://www.amazon.com/Innova-Champion-Material-Disc-Colors/dp/B005TEXO7I
It gets you 3 beginner friendly discs that are also in a premium plastic.
Couple pros to this over the DX set...
The champ set should come with an Aviar, Panther, and Valkyrie, all of which are good beginner friendly discs.
Something like this DX Roc or this Pro-D Buzzz will be your best bet, and you can't go wrong with either. Putters are all mostly based on feel, which sucks when you can't feel them. I'd recommend this KC Aviar though.
Doobikhan is right though, use DGC or Marshall Street.
Simple backpacks end up being better than those bags they include in those starter sets. This set is better quality discs HERE. Better yet, if you have a local store, go talk to the person at the desk.
Thank you!
Yea you can select which range of weight you want
And yes I am buying via gift card
LED Light up Frisbee (Red, Green, Blue, Turquoise, DISCO?) $20
Drugged up or drunk, I'd start walking towards the floating light. Great way to make some new friends. Just make sure you don't hit anyone.
I love disc golfing- it's a walk with a purpose! The only cost (usually.. some courses charge, but most are free!) are your discs. If you have a Play It Again sports by you they have used discs for sale (good price too). I would suggest a Buzzz, Valkyrie, and a putter.
Thanks everyone. I actually ended up buying Innova Champion Disc Golf Set as I got it for $30
brand new from OfferUp. https://www.amazon.com/Innova-Champion-Disc-Golf-Set/dp/B005TEXO7I/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2Y55MNGUPDF5N&keywords=champion+disc+golf&qid=1565556530&s=gateway&sprefix=champion+disc%2Caps%2C154&sr=8-3&fbclid=IwAR2QMUu5Gz4qHB7lgUU_exjAT6tWemUehR_r103N4sufMEqFSXNoSk2e3gY
If I may suggest for myself...

This review is pretty helpful.

If you have a ton of power especially if you grew up pitching or playing baseball an Aerobi Epic 100% is the best tomahawk disc you can throw. I would put any amount of money that it will go further than any other disc you can tomahawk. I can easily get 400 feet from a tomahawk out of it. The way it works is it will throw like a normal tomahawk disc but then if you can throw it hard enough and high enough it will do a barrel roll mid air and then glide for everrrrrr on its way down and its straight as an arrow. The only problem is good luck finding one, up until recently you could get them on Amazon or wherever I recently looked to pick up 2-3 more and I found a used one on Ebay for $5. Other sellers are asking $100? (lol) Keep an eye on this link hopefully they get more in stock as they sell it for 12-14 bucks.
https://www.amazon.com/Aerobie-Epic-Golf-Disc-Colors/dp/B001EYIQZW
Edit: I did find them on this website but I'm not sure it looks a little sketch like a website right out of the early 2000s. https://playground.epicsports.com/prod/74175/aerobie-epic-golf-disc.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjwkoDmBRCcARIsAG3xzl_RIOvhR0m40yiHdFDHROVMTyxQ8p6_EDRR8HRFJA8IwGX8OvkIVVwaAuseEALw_wcB
(Also when they are new they are very very hard to get them to flip over horizontally and will often flip and come down at an angle killing some distance. Either change the angle you release at to compensate and get it to flip correctly or just throw it a bunch let it fall from the sky and break in.)
It depends on where you are playing. If losing discs is not a concern, I'd get the Champion version of the starter set. They will last longer especially if you hit as many trees as I do. The DX set is also a good set, however, hit a few trees and they start to wear quick.
Innova Champion Set

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0032UUZ1Y/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_xJMEDb83A6YVT I would reccomend Z plastic personally, but you can look around at other plastics if you would like.
