Buy this: https://www.amazon.com/Greenten-String-Archtop-Rosewood-Hardware/dp/B015AUNPP6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1527273224&sr=8-3&keywords=archtop+guitar+bridge - Line it up with the points in the F-holes, roughly.

And buy a set of these: https://www.amazon.com/Ernie-Ball-Earthwood-Bronze-Acoustic/dp/B0002PBS5Y/ref=sr_1_6?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1527273255&sr=1-6&keywords=acoustic+guitar+strings

String them up to tension. It doesn't have to be perfect, but it needs to counter the tension the truss rod is exerting on the neck from the inside. I don't know whether it's been warped or bowed without inspecting it personally, but you could take a ruler or another straight edge and lay its center over the 12th fret (the one with double dots). If it rocks or has a big gap underneath, like a bridge, you know there's tension from the truss.

Try it again after the guitar has been strung up. You would need to use the thin edge of the ruler and place it between the strings once you've strung it up to know.

Good luck. Feel free to PM me or reply to this if you have more questions. I can help and am happy to do so in the spirit of keeping vintage instruments in good shape.

Maybe a trem-no might fix 75 percent of your needs? Are you using vibrato for both tuning?

https://www.tremol-no.com/

Q- Why do I want a Tremol-No™?
A- The Tremol-No™ was designed with the 'all-around' player in mind.
If you love your tremolo unit, but hate it when double-stops and other pedal steel-type licks don't come out in tune because of the trem, then the Tremol-No™ is the answer.
If you love the feel and/or tone of your favorite electric, but wish it was a hardtail (or 'dive-only') instead, then the Tremol-No™ is the answer.
When the Tremol-No™ is locked, you will not only increase sustain, but also expect an improvement in overall tone as well.
With a Tremol-No™ installed, you can now do all your favorite alternate tunings on guitars you previously couldn't. Yes- even those with full floating trems. Add a Deep-C™ on, and you can drop tune, while still having 'dive-only' trem use.
Last, but certainly not least, is in the event of a string break if your Tremol-No™ and/or Deep-C™ are locked, you'll remain in tune.

You won't be moving your tuning around with a floyd though with the locking nut and the fine tuners...

There's a tremstopper from FU tone...

> regular Fender bridges won't fit

That may be true, but you can still upgrade the saddles. I know a lot of players who swear by GraphTech saddles, like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Graph-Tech-Supercharger-Strat-spacing/dp/B0028RAEPO/ref=sr_1_44?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1485063966&sr=1-44&keywords=electric+guitar+parts&refinements=p_n_feature_keywords_browse-bin%3A3744172011

Although I prefer the roller bridge type saddle myself, like this: https://www.amazon.com/Roller-Bridge-Tremolo-Saddles-Electric/dp/B01GFX8RIM/ref=sr_1_2?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1485064311&sr=1-2&keywords=electric+guitar+parts&refinements=p_n_feature_keywords_browse-bin%3A3744172011

Beyond that, i would consider upgrading the electronics from the pick ups through to the pots and caps. Finish your upgrades off with locking tuners, and you got yourself an awesome axe. Monetarily, its not worth spending the money to upgrade, but its not about money, is it?

> I don't mind any generic decent bridge. As long as it fits.

You'll have to do some measuring to be sure, but this looks like it would do the trick: a good budget-friendly replacement with nice reviews for $20.

You can measure the dimensions with the one you have here.

I hope this helps!

The specs:

Guitar is 2002 Squire Tele, Affinity Series (don't laugh)

Neck has Seymour Duncan, 50s Vintage

Bridge has Seymour Duncan, Hot Rails

[Link to bridge and tone plate] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FYM3D5J/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_tyxCDbS5VXY4H)

The channels are basic three way but the blend sounds beautiful.

Note: The hot rails were too big for the bridge plate but the folks at Century Music (San Antonio) were cool enough to do a little handy work on the plate to get it to fit.

I would replace the bridge before anything else. The standard fender/squier ones are pretty low mass and flimsy which thins out your tone a lot. Amazon has a great deal on these right now. Replace the nut or at least put a lubricant on it. WD-40 works or you can just take a graphite pencil and coat where the strings with it.

Just about any pickup will sound better than the stock fenders.

The strap is a perri's and its one of the best part of the guitar lol. https://imgur.com/a/N1h6s I got the buzzstop off amazon. Fender Mustang Guitar Bridge Assembly - Chrome (Japan) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003AYINB6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_NYnWCb4H685JC

This is what I bought for my classic vibe squier jag, and I absolutely love it. The individual saddle heights cannot be adjusted just as a disclaimer. That was not a problem in my case

u/painess · 1 pointr/guitars

I got one of these for my Epiphone. Good resonance and I'm able to easily adjust the intonation.

I guess if I was feeling really spendy I would do this but I rarely feel that spendy lol

Sorry I was tracking down the link for you. There are a few sellers of the exact same piece, THIS is the best price I found.

You don't need to change springs - that guy doesn't know what he's talking about.

At most you would add a spring, which is typically included with new guitars and is only necessary in extreme cases.

Personally, I'd buy one of these. https://www.amazon.com/Neck-Check-Guitar-Nec-0348-Tremolo/dp/B00FUTXO8G

It's not necessary, but it makes everything easier for a one-time ten buck outlay.

u/CowSauce · 1 pointr/Guitar

You can get a Tele with a Bigsby. I have one myself. It's fantastic.

http://www.amazon.com/Bigsby-Vibrato-Tailpiece-Telecaster-Jazzmaster/dp/B001521JJI

Then all you'd need is a Telecaster (or a Jazzmaster).

Here is mine. http://i.imgur.com/HLttG.jpg

Sure.

personally, I would have gotten rid of the headstock too, and put a steinberger type headless bridge on. Then it would fit in a suitcase.

u/mtg4l · 1 pointr/Guitar

It's a fender 6-saddle bridge, looks like this one

Strings were two brands, .09-.42. Elixir nanowab and then a d'addario.

u/Ubiquity4321 · 2 pointsr/Luthier

If it is a Tiesco, it's had a neck replacement I think?

You could always do a Bigsby for the tailpiece/trem.

Your saddle depends on how you want it to look - you've got the floating roller design or the floating fixed piece design. Both offer adjustable intonation up and down, as well as with individual strings.

Don't buy the one's I linked just cause I linked 'em; I'm on mobile and it was easy to just paste something. Search around for what you want, use the links in the sidebar ---> cause they probably offer higher quality. I'd avoid non-adjustable designs cause they probably wouldn't fit the aesthetic, and they're difficult to properly intonate.

What other mods were you considering?

u/Dapado · 2 pointsr/Guitar

Assuming the trem claw on your strat has room for five springs (instead of the three that usually come stock):

  1. Buy some of these and install springs into the two empty slots.
  2. Tighten the trem claw screws.

This will hold the bridge flat against the body with enough force to essentially make it a hardtail. This is what I did, and I've been happy with it.

I also stuffed cotton inside the springs to dampen the vibrations. (The warbling noise from having five springs was a little much for me.)

Ive got a VM Jaguar myself and I was able to get rid of basically all the buzz with the installation of these:
