This is an awesome contest, thank you! All of mine are under $100!

  1. Atop my list are these sinfully comfortable and cute flats. I've posted about them on this sub before. They're all rubber/silicone (so they're not stiff anywhere at all), made from recycled materials, completely waterproof, easy to wash and clean (they can be washed in the dishwasher), and unbelievably comfy. They won't hurt your ankles and they have a "massage arch" so that they don't hurt the bottoms of your feet. Everyone needs a pair. This company makes flats, sandals, sling-backs, wedges! Even if I don't win this contest, I wholeheartedly recommend that you check these out.

  2. Next would be this jar of fiber. Lol so glamorous. Seriously, fiber is so good for you. For your heart, for your system, for your cholesterol, etc. I try and get most of my recommended fiber everyday and I rely on a supplement for that.

  3. Then this hard drive! This one will mostly be for my work/internship stuff. I'm so afraid to lose the work that I do on my laptop v. on my desktop, so this will be nice peace of mind!

  4. This super cool cutting board that extends to fit over a kitchen sink! And a silicone pouch for separating the food! Too cool and a kitchen staple! I've seen these in use and they're so handy.

I would recommend Cole Haan. Their Air Bacara flats were the most comfortable, sprint-able flats ever. Discontinued, but if you can find a pair in your size on eBay, so worth it. Cole Haan current styles like Tali might work. French Sole's Sloop might work too, but those can look clunky because of the very round toe. The Sloop is super comfortable though, and flexible. I had a pair that I wore around New York for a couple years, they hold up well. If your feet are on the wider side, Vionic has some comfortable flats that can be dressed up like the Minna. Those are less flexible in the sole though.

IMO, Rothy's are very casual and look it. I have a pair that I like ok, for extremely casual wear. I personally would not recommend the brand for other reasons (happy to share but not what you asked here).

Blowfish Shoes makes my all-time favorite flats! My pair isn't available anymore, but these look cute and affordable. I have kinda wide feet so these are a godsend for me, and they're usually pretty nicely padded on the insoles.

Also, 6pm.com has some nice brands for cheap (I got a pair of Naturalizer mary-jane flats for ~$25 shipped). My issue with them is that their returns aren't free, but everything is shipped free and if you're pretty sure what size you are with certain brands it's totally fine.

I've been a bartender/server on and off for nearly 6 years now, I used to work 40 hours a week on my feet, 12 hour shifts at a time. Now, I only work two 11 hours in a row, but I get the feet killling part of it. Right now, I'm swtiching between Nike Lunarlon's and these Sketchers when I wear leggings or black stuff. The Nike's are much better; I wore the sketchers last night at and 3 a.m. my heels were protesting. But honestly, in all my years of bartending, the best shoes I ever had for it were some old, clunky DC skater shoes, much like these However, the place I'm at now would never allow me to wear shoes like that and it sounds like you can't either. If you have to have black polished ones, I would go for the Sketchers, or maybe even a pair of black Rocket Dogs if you can find some of those. Hope that helps!

edit: ALSO. Had Nike Free's for awhile and they were pretty great, too.

Well these are definitely not meant to be worn with socks. I don't have a sweaty foot problem with them, but then my feet don't tend to get sweaty in general. If your feet sweat a lot, I could possibly see it becoming an issue.

As for others - for starters, rocket dogs have been mentioned in this thread, and here's my pair.

I bought the "Black eyelet" pair, basically the black ones, but they have many colors. It's simple and cute and very, very comfortable. No chafing on the back of the heel.

And I just went back to DSW where I bought my other most recent favorite pair of comfy flats, but it looks like that particular shoe is now sold out....I'll link you anyways so you can see it and check back or check other places if you really want it...

These are very comfy, great fit, and I think they're very cute. It is structurally identical to a pair I bought at Target two years ago in a different color and different brand and different name, but I held up the two shoes together and they were exactly the same thing. So I guess I have two pairs of these now in different colors.

I have other flats that I love (I have a bit of a ballet flat obsession) but these are the only ones where I can link you to online stores selling them.

I chose /u/hmsdexter who posted a few days ago from Swazilan. Honestly I had to google Swazilan because I had never heard of it but learned it's in Africa. I went through her list and my favorite item was these adorable shoes.

I think based on her list she is a fun free spirited person. I think she also likes cats, which obviously makes a person awesome. In addition her introduction post say she volunteers at a children's home so I would imagine based on that she is a giving and generous person.

I have wide-ish feet (right foot will fit medium width but the left is definitely wide) and these are my favorite flats in order:

  1. French sole NY Sloop - I've been wearing the heck out of my pair that I bought from Nordstrom rack many years ago. They're still in good condition. Because they are lined in leather they breathe extremely well and are my flat of choice for hot days. Very plain looking though. They run 1/2 size small. There is a slight possibility that they need to be stretched out/broken in though - I got them at rack and it may have been a worn and refinished one but it seemed like new when I got them.

  2. Frye Carson - also leather lined. Very comfortable but I can't wear them as long as I can the fsny. The tops of my toes start to feel sore after a whole day.
Also, I bought them when I was pregnant so now they are a tad loose on me.

  3. Lucky Brand Emmie - make sure you get genuine leather and not faux leather. I have it in a metallic leather and love them, even though they don't have leather lining (my feet do sweat a bit in these if it's really hot tho)

  4. Nine West Blustery - the leather is very soft and I think the look is cute. Doh, just searched and I don't see these anymore, boo.

Of course! I'm not sure where in the world you live but if you can easily buy them, I think Cole Haan has great-looking, durable, feminine flats. Something like this. Frye also has some beautiful flats. They can be pricey, but if you're flexible on color you might find some deals. The best thing about Fryes is that they eventually mold to your foot so it feels like a second skin. Not a lot of support, but incredibly soft and comfortable. Sam Edelman also has nice flats, but not quite as good quality as Cole Haan or Frye, in my experience. What do you think?

u/anotherthink · 1 pointr/femalefashionadvice

Ha, yeah, I've spent literally years dealing with this! My feet are a 10.5 (which a lot of brands don't even make, they go 10 -> 11), and not actually wider than a usual 7-8 foot (but they make 10-11 sizes SO wide), AND I have a narrow heel too, like yours.

What works for me is:

  • I generally buy only real leather, and soft leather at that, so that I can buy the half-size down (10 for me), and it eventually stretches out to the exact shape of my foot. I have two ancient pairs of Vince Camuto flats that basically an exact mold of my foot now.

  • They're not super-dressy, but for the width issue, my best solution is generally to get pairs that have elastic ruching at the sides (like these), which help keep a narrow foot in. Some styles have ruching specifically around the heel area, which helps.

  • Also, based on your description, I'd like for something with a wide toe box.

    Good luck!

I’m a woman - I have flats made by Crocs which I love. They are comfortable, look good with dress clothes, hold up pretty well, and are rubber, so stuff can be wiped off of them really easily. They don’t look like what you think of as “crocs” and they don’t look like they’re made of rubber. Also pretty inexpensive.

These are the ones I have: https://www.amazon.com/crocs-Womens-Lina-Ballet-Black/dp/B01A6LELPW/ref=asc_df_B01A6LELPW/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312343366755&hvpos=1o2&hvnetw=g&hvrand=12433556739340264644&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9005929&hvtargid=pla-337434339733&psc=1

To all the haters out there - I used to laugh at people who wore any kind of Crocs and now they’re my favorite. Give them a chance.

We were all leaning towards no necklace as well - the illusion neckline is delicate and intricate, and I think that a necklace might take focus away from that.

And pearl sounds beautiful with all of this - I've seen some hair combs with pearls worked into them that would look amazing as well, I think!

For the shoes, I was considering something like this for the reception, but wasn't sure if they'd work for a ceremony as well - the deep red and blush of the flowers looked nice to me and would fit the palette. A navy or blush shoe would look beautiful, I think! Thank you so much for your help!

I was figuring a couple of cardigans or shawls (I usually keep one in my purse even when it's 100f here, just because I get chilly on the train or in shops) and maybe this jacket in case of rain or chilly nights (Google was saying an average of 56F at night) - but I also only got the jacket last week, so I'm still figuring out how warm it is.

Yeah, I definitely wasn't thinking full on wellies or anything, but these are the only decent flats I own right now and those are definitely not great in even a light drizzle. So really I'm just looking for anything sturdy and cute (preferably in a nice quality leather) that comes pre-treated to at least be water resistant (if not full on waterproof) - I just only ever recall seeing leather boots marked water resistant and never anything summery. I do also have waterproofing spray and I k ow how to use it, but it plays better with, say, a nice solid leather flat than with t-strap sandals.

These are the closest thing to proper rain boots that I've considered and I'm not particularly enthused by them.

I'm doing good so far, bought gifts for my mom's birthday later this month but so far nothing for myself.
However...I got an Amazon alert that these shoes on my wish list are discounted from $69.99. I love this brand, I already have 3 pairs in other patterns and just love these. I don't need them...but am feeling the strongest urge to buy.

I've done some hardcore research on this recently myself as I have an extended trip coming up in a couple of months. There are glowing reviews for the brand Naot, here is a shoe that I ordered that doesn't look extremely clunky, yet has been touted as an amazingly comfortable shoe with good arch support, perfect for miles of walking: http://www.amazon.com/Naot-Footwear-Womens-Kirei-Mary/dp/B00L5H0C1O

Another brand that I intend to order as my second pair (since it is good to switch up shoes frequently, as opposed to wearing the same one everyday) is Merrell. I'm opting for a sportier look for this shoe that I can wear to more rugged, off-the-beaten-path trips: http://www.amazon.com/Merrell-All-Out-Mary-Jane-Slip-On/dp/B00KZHMO0W

You can take this for a grain of salt since I haven't actually tested my shoes on the road yet, but I have literally scoured dozens of sites and "best walking shoe" articles, cross-referenced reviews and ratings to find these shoes. Good luck! :)

tl;dr comfortable pointy flats?

I really like the look of pointy flats and I got these a while back; I usually do well with Clarks shoes and find them pretty comfortable. However after a pretty minimal amount of walking in these, my feet were killing me....these crush my toes, and I've got blisters in various places because the leather is quite hard.

I get that I shouldn't expect to be able to go hiking in dress shoes, but I would hope to be able to do at least a minimal amount of walking in them without wanting to throw them out a window. Am I expecting too much of dress shoes, or are there some more comfortable pointy flats out there for me that I just haven't found yet? Full disclosure, I'm kind of a wuss about shoe comfort, so although these got good reviews for being comfortable, I did not find it to be the case for me.
