They also make defogger cleaning fluids that supposedly make your windshield less susceptible to fogging (by absorbing the moisture or something). Tried it out recently, works pretty well so far.

I just use Rain-X Anti-Fog treatment stuff. Works a amazingly. It's cheap, don't need much, and lasts for a month before you need to re-apply.

this stuff works really freaking well cutting through glass grime. when it runs out i'll try alcohol because it's cheaper. if alcohol streaks up i'll go back to this.

Most heater cores are a part of the coolant flow path even when the heater is off. Check your coolant level, if you have a leak it will show up in low coolant.
