I use a 12v fence charger and portable battery for camping trips with my horses. If I added a solar panel and charge controller, it could run indefinitely. No joke, 2 joules is quite a bit of energy. You or I would not like contact with this type of fence for any amount of time.

I used this Parmak Magnum Solar-Pak 12 Low... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00099FAJI?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share. And yes walked through one side and out the other. I just put up cattle fencing inside the electric fencing to give them pause so they can’t just walk through and maybe they will get a shock to a sensitive area and turn around. Also have a solar powered motion activated light to help startle them.
