The nearest thing to this battery life would probably be the Acer Predator tirton 500 it has an 84Wh battery and with Optimus you should get decent battery life.

It has an RTX 2060 and a thunderbolt 3 like you want .

You can get a very nice performing laptop for $2k.

For your CE programs, do you do much CAD/CAM/3D modeling? Matlab? What capabilities do you need for them?

For you best bang for your buck, I'd suggest finding something with a RTX 2060, 16GB memory, 512GB SSD, 15" 144Hz IPS screen, and an Intel i7 processor. You may want to bump the memory up to 32GB if your CE software is memory hungry or you deal with large model databases.

So something like an Acer Triton 500 ( https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-i7-8750H-Keyboard-PT515-51-71VV/dp/B07NDVGYZQ ) that goes for $1800. Other similar laptops would be the MSI GS65 Stealth, Gigabyte Aero 15, Lenovo Y740, Alienware m15, or any number of ASUS machines. You could go for a Razer, but there's an additional price bump for the better construction and aesthetics.

Keep an eye on the LaptopDeals sub ( https://www.reddit.com/r/LaptopDeals/ ). There are some really good deals that pop up but disappear fast, like an MSI GS65 with RTX2060 for $1400 a little while ago.

I was gonna say the a weorus does look ugly lol. Although aesthetics depend on personal taste these are some which I think look based on popular opinion.

This one is thin, light, great performance, great thermals but has an inverted motherboard. Honestly can't go wrong with it.

https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GS65-Stealth-006-Gaming-i7-8750H/dp/B07PHNZBDV/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=msi+gs65+rtx+2060&qid=1573736470&sprefix=msi+gs65+&sr=8-3

One of the sexiest laptops ever made. Doesn't scream gamery but it packs a lot of power in a super thin chassis. Although it might run a little hot (some people have issues with thermals, some say its great... hard to say since I don't own one)

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-i7-9750H-Keyboard-PH315-52-72EV/dp/B07QVM5X91/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=acer+helios+300+rtx+2060&qid=1573736641&sr=8-4

The MVP of 2019. Great laptop although not as thin and light as the previous two. But still a beast and can beat laptops costing much more with raw power. But it looks too gamery.

I'd say Triton > MSI = Helios 300 > Aero.

Hope this helps.

Apparently the gigabyte laptop has serious buyer beware worries so I deleted the link

Not sure if that’s too overkill or not.

it wasnt made for gaming its one of the thinnest laptop and they decided they can put those specs on it

Just read your review, very informative! I know I can take care of the lid with some kind of skin and I can probably handle the keyboard. However, if there is a laptop with similar performance, build quality, thermals ect. and it looks better I would probably choose it over the Triton.

Another question:

On Amazon it says the RTX 2060 is Max-P, does that mean anything special (like max-q) or is it just a normal, full RTX 2060?

My Recommendation would be the 2060 model of the Triton 500. Its thin, light, and powerful, and most importantly, it doesnt thermal throttle, atleast the 2060 model doesnt. Its not the best price to performance, as you are paying a bit of a premium to get it in such a small package with good cooling. 1800 USD at time of post.

This MSI GS65 Stealth1 is one of my favorite super slim , light weighted , high performance laptops with 1000 series graphics card..It definitely will do the job at hand you have, has a solid battery life and of course, you will be fascinated by its design and overall aesthetics.

This Acer Predator Triton 500 has a newer RTX 2060 graphics card which operates similarly to the 1070 in the Stealth above. It has all the features of the MSI of course, but is a newer system and I totally love its overall appearance and aesthetics.

There are two other laptops that are more powerful than these and still within your budget ( they have the RTX 2070 MQ graphics card), but i'm not sure if you'll like their designs. They are very slim and light- weighted as well .

  1. SAGER NP8956

2 ASUS ROG Zephyrus S This is the thinnest of all the laptops I have stated. It also performs very well, but I am not sure you will like its unorthodox keyboard design and of course, if you get it, I would recommend you get a mouse as well.

I have been looking at purchasing a laptop and was going to purchase this, which is shipping from USA whilst i am in UK. The exact same laptop on the uk store is here at more than double the price, so my question is, if i order from usa how much would the shipping and import be if there is any at all? as on other items/laptops that are coming from the USA such as this one, it tells me how much the shipping charge would be upfront ( + GBP 329.59 Shipping & Import Fees Deposit to United Kingdom ) where at the first link doesnt have anything written after the price. Any help appreciated, Thanks.

Excellent.. ln that case I would look for a laptop with a mobile gtx 1070 or 2060 that fits in your budget. Something like this:

Acer Predator Triton 500 Thin & Light Gaming Laptop, Intel Core i7-8750H, GeForce RTX 2060 Max-P, 15.6" Full HD 144Hz 3ms IPS Display, 16GB DDR4, 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD, RGB Keyboard, PT515-51-71VV https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NDVGYZQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_p2YYCb7FDKSNE

Thanks a bunch! Just want to double check this is the right link to the one you describe:

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-i7-8750H-Keyboard-PT515-51-71VV/dp/B07NDVGYZQ

How's the keyboard on it, is it a nice size and comfortable?
