This is an afterglow 360 controller, it's a wired USB replica of a standard Microsoft 360 controller that works automatically on any windows PC. It is $27 and will make you infinitely better than using your keyboard.
I know people who swear by this one, cheapest good one I know of.

I really like the afterglow controllers I dare say they have even better quality than oem Xbox 360 controllers

I use an XBox One controller. Standard wired XBox controller will also work. (Playing this, among a bunch of other platformers and fighters suddenly, killed my other controller so I upgraded to the XB1)
If you get an XB1 controller, the USB receiver is $20 on Amazon.
