If you miss out on this groupon deal or for some reason can't get these now, Amazon appears to have refurbished versions of these as well for $120 as a regular price.

Get the refurbished astro a50 they cost 200 and it is worth every penny!

Get em for $200. No doubt the A50s are worth the extra $85. It's like buying an xbone for $200 rather than a 360 for $115.

I'm going to assume the $120 is just for the headset and not for the mixamp too. What not just buy a set of A50s if thats the case? They are expansive, but great quality and well worth it. The surround sound is incredible and its not something ordinary headphones will support. The only downside is that you have to charge them regularly (every 8-10 hours of use or so), but you can do it while using them. Make sure you buy a second toslink/optical audio cable. One for the XB1 and one for the 360. That way, you can just plug out the cable from the receiver and plug in the other to switch between the 360 and the XB1. You don't need to do this if you plug your 360 into your XB1 with the passthrough. I've got individual cables for the XB1, 360, PS4 and PC and its super easy and fast to switch between them.

I think its well worth saving up a bit of extra cash to go for the A50s. If you want to save some money on it, go for a refurbished pair from Amazon. They are checked over by Astro to make sure they are working properly. They are basically headsets that someone returned because they didn't want it or something small was broken and had to be fixed. I have a refurb pair myself and they are absolutely solid. You wont be getting the new model, but the only difference is the colour (this one is nicer IMO). The A50s are a stead at just under $200

EDIT: I forgot to mention two things. With that refurbished model, you'll need to pick up the Xbox Stereo Headset Adapter too. You'll basically need to for voice chat only. Just set up the A50s normally and just turn up the chat audio on the adapter (bottom left button) all the way and it will eventually cancel out the game sound from the adapter. Then just use the volume on the adapter and headset to fine tune how loud the game and voice is. I set the adapter at full volume and use the heat set to blend the chat and game sound to how I like it. Its much simpler than it sounds.

Another cool thing you can do with the A50s and Chat adapter is plug in your iPod or phone and listen to music when you're not chatting to anyone. You will lose all chat audio while listening to music though (game volume is fine since its coming from the Astro receiver).

Yeah the A50s receive sound wirelessly from the pc. I believe you can do PS chat wirelessly but you have to plug into the controller for the xbox. The problem I have with them is that I can't adjust my game and pc sounds through my headset, so I have to adjust my sound on the systems. Unlike my old logitech F540s.

I don't have speakers set up. I'd imagine I'd had to change the source but I'll grab another pair of head phones right now and test it out. So what happens is what ever I plug in my front audio port takes priority.

So, I wouldn't recommend the A50s if you want to have 7.1 surround coming from the PC through the headset without changing audio sources. Since, I currently would have to my change computer source from my usb connection to auxiliary connection to hear my xbox and computer at the same time. So I have 5.1 upscaled to 7.1 in from my system (optical doesn't support 7.1) and stereo coming from my computer.

This review thread could help you find your match. I also find they have a little too much bass for my tastes. 9/10 on comfort. http://www.head-fi.org/t/534479/mad-lust-envys-headphone-gaming-guide-update-10-15-2014-beyerdynamic-t51i-added

also if you still wanna buy A50s I'd buy them refurbished through Amazon. Since the new model isn't actually any different hardware wise. Amazon gives 30 day money back guarantee and still offers the 1 year warranty since Astro is still the seller. http://www.amazon.com/ASTRO-Gaming-Refurbished-A50-Wireless-Headset/dp/B00EIM3BV6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1413710761&sr=8-3&keywords=astro+a50s

Have these. Amazon had a sale on them a while ago and you can get them refurbished in the US for $200. I absolutely love them and the best part is I can still talk on skype with them while walking around the house.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EIM3BV6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (Forgive me GabeN, it works with PC even though it says XB360)

u/ColinsDaBomb · 1 pointr/xboxone

Ya I got mine and they are a dream. It works with every console, PC, PS4, PS3, XB1 and XB360 (I don't know about Wii, but I doubt you are getting them for that). The mic sounds like a dream from what my friends say and the sound quality is amazing. There is even a special mode you can put the headset in to make games like COD easier because it makes footsteps louder. You can even have it connected to the console and PC at the same time, all you have to do is plug the optical cable into the console to get the sound how you normally would and then plug the USB power cable into your PC instead of the console. You get sound from your PC and console and you can change the levels by pressing the buttons on the headset. I usually do it so I can talk to my friends on Skype, but you can do it to listen to music or whatever you want. If you aren't rolling in money then you can get a refurbished pair for $100 less (It's refurbished by Astros themselves so it's good). If you have any other questions I be happy to help, I have nothing else to do.

Edit: The first refurbished pair I got didn't work, so I just sent them back and they sent me another pair in 5 days and they work great.

If you're using solely for gaming, get the A50s. They are far and beyond above the rest. If you want it for gaming and to take around listening to music away from home, get the QC35s.

Here are the A50s I have for only $119.

Since I got mine they've made an updated version specifically for he Xbox One which run around $299. But the 1st version works perfectly. The ones I have can't connect via bluetooth to my phone to listen to music though. Not sure if they included that in the newest version.

The QC35s are great for music listening or watching movies on a laptop/tablet.

Whatever you do, just don't get the 800x.
