I would say that these 3 monitors are some of the best, if not the best that you could buy for 1080P gaming @144hz. I have owned all 3, and even used them back when I still had a GTX 1080 like you have. If you are on a budget, I would go with the Acer. If you have the money to spend and want an overall better monitor, then the Asus is the way to go. Not really a reason to buy the Zowie anymore IMO, for the price you might as well just spend a bit more and get the Asus (when I bought my Zowie, that current Asus model was not available). And trust me, you will not have a great overall experience playing 1440P BDO with a GTX 1080. Maybe if you have a 9th gen CPU it could be a little better. I have a GTX 2080 TI and I7 7700k and I can't pull 144fps/144hz in many places, especially not in NW/anything more than smallscale PVP.

It's been a very productive week but man, I'm exhausted!

The fun news first. I got my hands on a 144hz gaming monitor. I've never seen a 144hz display before and yeah, once you know what you've been missing out on, it's gonna's be hard to go back. It's buttery smooth, and makes me feel like a champion. Maybe I'll get a chance to actually break it in this weekend.

Attention WoW nerds! Classic got its release date this week, August 27th! It's not quite the "Summer of Classic" they sold to us, but soon my gaming PC will become a dedicated WoW machine. I might die one day, but philosophers will ask how one dies that has no life when that moment comes.

... I'll be rolling a Gnome Mage.

I successfully navigated Baptist church government this week. As I've said before, I've taken over my Church's Sunday morning streaming project. We've made some progress since that initial rant, namely we've gotten an XLR-interface running and vastly improved the sound quality by using some spare condenser mics. But now, oh boy, we're gonna live the dream.

My first meeting was in my new position on our tech budget council. We needed a dedicated streaming computer for the project, and I struck paydirt. One of the council members just happened to have a spare 6-year-old autocad desktop with vastly higher specs than our stream needs and reasonable room for expansion. The computer will be able to support at least a second camera, which will help improve the visual variety on the stream.

The second meeting was with my pastor, church administrator and members of the property team. I have secured funding for, and purchased sound baffling (7lb moving blankets with wall hooks) and lighting (2x box light) for the stream.

We're still in the setup/training phase, but soon I'll be fully up-and-running. We're hoping to do a big promotions push in the Fall and it should be interesting!

and here is my secondary: https://www.microcenter.com/product/510757/hp-n246v-238-full-hd-60hz-vga-dvi-hdmi-led-monitor

Just got the secondary one so I could have an extra monitor for my programs, so I didn't want to splurge on this. Loving it though.

u/Koenigspiel · 2 pointsr/battlestations

Desk is an Ikea Linnmon.

Main monitor is an ASUS VG278Q

Portrait monitor is an AOC I2779VH

Only comments I have about the above is: desk can be wobbly if it's not up against a wall. And the AOC doesn't have a VESA mounting bracket. I had to JBweld the VESA bracket to the back.

u/patrick_j · 2 pointsr/iRacing

I recently bought a couple of Asus VG278Q for my two side monitors. They've been great, and the thin bezel is a plus for triples setup.

u/KingHyp3 · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Otherwise, any monitor is pretty good. $300 is a lot, but so is this monitor. Its also pretty damn high quality

u/kshucker · 2 pointsr/buildmeapc
A VR build doesn't have to be stupid expensive anymore. Just keep in mind that no matter what you buy is going to replaced with bigger and better parts in a year or two. It's just how pc building works. Doesn't mean what you build will become shitty though. I'm a big fan of setting myself a budget and staying well below it. I prefer to keep my extra money in my pocket, but that's just me. I honestly think a 1080 or 1080TI is overkill unless you want to do some 4k gaming, but then that requires a 4k monitor. Not worth it if you're building a VR rig. Just my opinion.

hey my guy, this monitor is both freesync and gysync compatible. This is the 27" version but they also have 24" versions which is probably cheaper. A little more expensive than your low end model, but much cheaper than that high end youre looking at. Its the monitor I'm using and its at a pretty solid price for Gsync.

u/Fallingcycle · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

This is a little more expensive than 200 but I think you’d be happy with it if you could swing it.

A monitor. I can't use the laptop I've got as a monitor replacement and the hand-me-down monitors we've got don't have compatible ports. It's for my first rig.

This is the one I want the most, since the LAN Cafe I go to has them and they offer pretty solid quality.

u/HuhhDoe · 2 pointsr/battlestations

Thank you! the outer ones are the Asus VG278Q 27" 1080P 144Hz and the middle one is the ASUS ROG Swift PG27UQ 27" 4K 144Hz G-SYNC HDR. They are absolutely amazing! I mainly use the middle one which has blown me away at the colors/brightness/experience. I'd get 3 of them but i wouldn't use the outer ones enough for the specs I'd be getting.

u/Gunmetalz · 1 pointr/buildapc

This one, but it looks like a dumpster fire.

I strongly urge you to consider a more expensive, better-looking monitor. The difference may seem large now. But monitors are the most prominent piece of the puzzle, and the difference in a small bezel versus a large one will shock you. You'll also kick yourself later if you buy one that isn't height / angle adjustable. Just my $.02

u/TDYAnt · 1 pointr/buildapc

This is a huge price limit that I can definitely help you on! Here are 5 1080p monitors that I recommend that have 144Hz 1ms for you to buy for your budget. All of these links will be Amazon links.

1080p

Samsung LC27FG73FQNXZA Curved Gaming Monitor

ASUS VG278Q 27" Full HD 1080p 144Hz 1ms Eye Care G-SYNC Compatible Adaptive Sync Gaming Monitor with DP HDMI DVI

Acer Gaming Monitor 27" KG271 Cbmidpx 1920 x 1080 144Hz Refresh Rate AMD FREESYNC Technology (Display Port, HDMI & DVI Ports)

ASUS VG278HV 27 inch Full HD 1920X1080 Gaming Monitor

Most of these monitors are 200$, when some are even $300. There are monitors less then $200 I found that's in this list. These are my top 5 picks. Enjoy! I legit spent like 30 minutes searching on Amazon, and another 30 minutes posting the links.

u/t0mmieb · 1 pointr/buildapc

The pc is not great but for a prebuilt it's ok. The monitor is a little overpriced, something like this or this is a little cheaper and just as good.

u/th3king_13 · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

Asus pity choice

Still a good monitor, but the LG was priced higher so I obviously wanted that deal instead lmao

u/BigSerene · 1 pointr/buildapc

There are too many Amazon reviews for me to spend the time going through them, but there are only 38 reviews on Newegg. 9 of them mention ghosting. One of those is from someone who doesn't own the monitor and is complaining about some of the other reviews. 4 of them mention "No ghosting at all" as a pro. The last 4 mention "slight/some/horrible ghosting" as a con. Any monitor is going to have some duds that get through the QA process, but the high number of positive reviews on Amazon suggests that QA isn't slacking off for this monitor.

Here's an Asus monitor if you want to spend an extra $50: https://smile.amazon.com/1080p-Gaming-LED-Lit-Monitor-VG278Q/dp/B074JLD4HZ. It also has some reviews that mention horrible ghosting and some that mention no ghosting at all.

u/LennySks · 1 pointr/buildmeapc

Nice build.

I would change the m.2 ssd though, the evo series are a bit overpriced imo but you pay for its great performance.

EDIT: You could also save a few 100 bucks by changing your 2080Ti with the EVGA variant, I can guarantee you you could get away with 1-2 frames by spending less on the EVGA one. With that money you saved, you could buy a 1-2TB HDD (since you'll be storing VFX projects/games, etc) or maybe an SSD of your choice.

Other than that it's a great build.

This monitor from Dell I found could be the best valued 1440p 144hz monitor out there. But if you want to go a bit cheaper and go 1080p, this could be your go-to monitor.

Hope I helped!

u/ApolloTheSpaceFox · 1 pointr/buildapc

I'd prefer not to overclock since I don't know much about it and I don't want to kill my parts. Although if I could overclock lesser parts safer for similar performance to the proposed parts then I would educate myself on it.

Theres a microcenter in Detroit I could go to if its worth the savings.

Are you in the US? This one has good reviews for $200 and has Freesync (G-Sync compatible). This Sceptre monitor also has good reviews for $180, is 144Hz, and is even curved, but some customers have said that they come with a few dead pixels. That's far outside of my budget unfortunately. I think your suggestion is great, 1440p w/ g-sync. I didn't know g-sync worked like that. I would be play some AAA's like you said as well. Maybe I should hold off on a killer sale/wait for prices for GPU and monitors to drop.

Would you say that 1440p is worth the money? I was sort of thinking doing 1080p to save some money on the purchase.

What do you think about this one? What does it mean to have 144hz on 1080p?

Edit: I'm kinda looking to stay < $300

Thank you for the detailed reply.

I've already purchased the system parts. and the RTX 2060 is in the mail. My budget for a gaming monitor is roughly $300 and Im looking at monitors in the 27" range.

This is the one I have my eye on at the moment Asus VG278Q 27" 1080p@144.

Is this one overkill or will the Ryzen 5 2600 + RTX 2060 be able to handle it?

Please do. Guess my friend isn't as knowledgeable as he thinks lol.

I'm running this monitor btw:

Personally, I would not recommend purchasing used Electronics.
You can find one at around $220 - $280

Thanks for this info!
Until I get a job (I'm a high school student), I am buying things off of my summer job and parent's generosity. We talked about this for a while, and we concluded that for now, I can get a good graphics card and a good monitor and we will split The price half and half (Christmas and birthday gift combined).
We are looking at the Radeon Vega RX 56
https://www.amazon.com/XFX-Radeon-Graphic-Cards-RX-VEGMLBFX6/dp/B07532T488
and the Asus VG278Q 144 hz
https://www.amazon.com/VG248QE-1920x1080-144Hz-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B074JLD4HZ?th=1
.
Once and if I purchase all this, I will sell my old graphics card for a little bit if compensation for the price.
Please, if I am doing anything dumb or wrong, tell me! I am not new to pc gaming, but I have no clue what to do when it comes to things like this. Thanks a lot!
(also, what PSU would you recommend for an upgrade like this?)

Found two very quickly for you. Both have solid reviews and are roughly within budget.

This 27inch ASUS monitor is 1080p, 144hz and has a 1ms response time for $279.00. Granted it's a little higher than you wanted but it also comes down to $189 for a 24inch and I believe 40-75hz. 144hz would be great for next-gen too.

This ASUS one is currently $259.99, is 1080p, 144hz and 1ms response time, 24 inches. I have personally see this and it has some great colors. Currently have one in the house.

Both have exceptional reviews (4.4/5 stars with 1000+ reviews).

Like I said, look around and see what deals there are but you can't go wrong with these.

My 4K ASUS monitor is currently available for 299.00 on Amazon, too. 1ms response time and 60hz. I personally love it.

No. My fault that refresh rate is too low :( was looking at the 24" version of my monitor but i guess it's a bit different. I have this monitor it's 27" https://www.amazon.com/1080p-Gaming-LED-Lit-Monitor-VG278Q/dp/B074JLD4HZ?th=1 very good for 1080p

u/dimtwork · 1 pointr/buildapc

Acer predator modules are incredibly good and are focused on gaming

ASUS/BenQ/LG all make very good monitors as well especially for 1080p

It is all about how much you are willing to spend, cheaper ones will have either smaller screen size or less configurations while the more expensive ones will have everything

If you need a good example for a base here is one: https://www.amazon.com/1080p-Gaming-LED-Lit-Monitor-VG278Q/dp/B074JLD4HZ/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=1080p+144hz+gaming+monitor&qid=1563251461&s=gateway&sr=8-4

It's $38 outside of your budget, but this is the one I have and I couldn't really recommend it enough: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074JLD4HZ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
