BESTVA 1000W LED Grow Light Full... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01871AHTC?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

Is the one I bought. Maybe isn't the best or even right for my family but it puts out a lot of light and at least seems to not be killing them 😁

I've got it hooked to a wemo outlets that allows me to set a schedule and I'm running it about 13 hours a day.

You're probably going to have to break down and get some lights if growing outside isn't an option. Even a very bright window is still way less sun than actually being outside. Weed loves light, and needs tons of it to thrive. As it happens my current crop is about the same age as yours. I'm growing them in a pretty cheap no fuss setup. They're all around 2-3 feet tall and fairly covered in buds already.

If you're going to spend any money at all on this, get lights first. They will make a far bigger difference than anything else. (As you're seeing, you can't really grow indoors without them.) You can get a decent enough light to grow one or two plants for $100-ish. Something like this. It's not the best light in the world, but it's plenty to grow a couple plants and get a decent yield.

For my 2 cent, the hierarchy of 'stuff to buy' looks like this:

  1. LIGHTS. You really can't understate the need for good light. Unless you've already sunk a ton of cash into them, these should always be the first thing you upgrade.
  2. Soil. Spend the $10-15 for a bag of the nice Fox Farm soil. This stuff is excellent. If you're growing autos in this stuff you don't need any extra fertilizer.
  3. Tent, fans, filters. You don't want your house to smell like weed. When you get your first plant growing well you're not going to believe how much it smells.
  4. Fertilizer. Careful with this stuff, a little goes a LONG way. Especially when you're already using 'strong' soil.
  5. Fancy pots.

I'm looking at this and wondering if I should switch out my setup for it. If so I can probably get more for my HPS light and ballast than this even costs.

I have 1000w Bestva LED lights that will be the lights for after this stage. Just not sure when they need this much light and I don't want to harm the little guys.

Here is a link to the lights:

Thanks.

I’m using this one from amazon. It’s my first grow with it. I had been using compact CFLs in the past. I started the plants in the pic on my old CFL light rig and then transitioned them to the LED once they were a little bigger. I tried a few seedlings under it before these plants and they were fried and dead in days. Not sure if that was the lights fault or if I was pretty rusty from not growing for a little over a year.

I've been using this in a 2x4x6' tent. I do have a concern it's too much. The light is 3+ feet from the plants. Is this light too much for this size tent? And does this have light good for the flowering stage?

BESTVA 1000W LED Grow Light Full Spectrum Dual-Chip

Just fair warning, it’s not 1000w and eats a lot of electricity to run it. Fortunately I don’t pay electric because my building is fully solar. It’s a consideration. Some of the vets here can give you some better options probably.

iPower 600 Watt HPS MH Digital Dimmable Grow Light System Kits Air Cooled Reflector Hood Set https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005GYRZV2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_VMnElrNdwb561
2x BESTVA 1000W LED Grow Light Full... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01871AHTC?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

I could honestly use 1 more 600 hps light to get the most out of my area. I can dedicate an entire room, so I have veggie companions.

As for the trichs, you'll want to measure calyxes on your mature buds (the one you pic'd).
You already have a good amount of amber, so if the rest are milky you'd want to harvest.

I'm new here with the same tent size and (almost) the same LED:

I need LED because my house gets super hot in the summer (115F outside) with A/C running full blast to keep the house cool.

Did you decide on a different light setup? Now I'm wondering if I should send mine back, or just get another one. Or supplement with some of the LED bulbs. Lighting has been the most difficult thing for me to figure out. Everything I've read on this brand has gotten good reviews from growers.

u/lovelybluebud · 1 pointr/microgrowery

The tent is going to be in a closet though, so I'm worried about airflow.

Also, seeing as I haven't bought everything yet, there seems to be a well rated 1000W LED Grow light that seems much better for the same price. It has better effective wattage, less heat, and draws less power. Any criticisms on that?

I've decided on doing this 4-way LST technique if that makes any difference with lighting, as I do know that LED grow lights need to be further away, especially one so bright.

One more thing that I can't find the answer to, how do you control the grow lights? Do people just unplug them manually when they go 12/12? Because I can't find anything when I google "grow light controller".

Thanks so much for your help so far!

Those are the links I don’t really know how to calculate true wattage, but if you do by all means thank you, but from what I said yes that’s the wattage but please let me know if it’s not regardless adding more lighting was very necessary for me since I was repeatedly told my tent was under lit.
