I have this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002DW99H8

Comparatively cheap, well built, tons of space. I can fit my 60d, about 5 lenses (primes and telephotos, it even fits my 300mm), 580ex, and my tripod straps to the side of the bag. I can also fit my Macbook and Wacom Bamboo in the back padded pocket. Really nice bag. The main thing I like about it is the sling system that allows you to quickly remove the camera, and you can even leave the lens attached.

This is what I have and would reccomend. https://www.amazon.com/Case-Logic-SLRC-206-15-4-Inch-Backpack/dp/B002DW99H8 I'm not 100% sure if it would fit everything, but I would bet that it would. I keep my Canon 6D, Canon 24-70 2.8, Tamron 70-200 2.8, and Tokina 16-28 2.8 all in there with room to spare.

I really like this one. It would give you some room to increase gear and it has a place for a laptop and tripod on the side.

I love this Case Logic bag. Really well designed and, at least for my use, plenty durable.

This sounds right up your alley: Case Logic 206 SLR and 15.4" Laptop Backpack

If you're looking for something super heavy duty and more expensive then you might like this: LowePro ProTactic 450 AW Backpack

I know those are very popular and if you just enter "Camera and Laptop Backpack" on either Amazon or B&H, you'll find lots of options that might suit your tastes better.

I have a similar Case Logic bag and I love it. It fits everything I take with me (mainly just laptop/camera/lenses) and it was relatively cheap.

65 is getting a little low - especially to carry ALL your gear, but I just bought this Case Logic bag largely based on this review by Dave Dugdale, and I like it.

I use it with the stock 4k and there's room to spare. The only downside is it can get top heavy if your camera body is the heaviest thing in your bag. I learned about it from this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHt12BmewPU

Good article. What about case/backpack? I picked a cheap Case Logic SLRC-206 but now that I carry 2 bodies, I am looking at the Tenba Shootout.

Body with a flip out screen is also a good call. When getting shots of bathrooms and small rooms, it is very helpful.

Along the lines of a backpack I got this one by Case Logic and it makes lugging my tripod, EOS 60D, charger, filters, batteries, and basically everything so much easier. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Case-Logic-Backpack-Protection-Hammock/dp/B002DW99H8/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1375296008&sr=1-5&keywords=case+logic+camera+bag

Same predicament as you. I am thinking of ordering this one today

I have an EOS 70D and while I am on campus, I would only need my 24mm EF-S Prime, 50mm EF Prime and the 18-135mm EF-S zoom lens. I can take out the other compartments to make room for notebooks. I have a Dell XPS 13 so that saves a lot of space.

Here's the one I use:

https://www.amazon.com/Case-Logic-SLRC-206-15-4-Inch-Backpack/dp/B002DW99H8/ref=sr_1_8?crid=36JCS5KZY9Y5Z&keywords=case+logic+backpack+dslr&qid=1572112517&sprefix=case+lo%2Caps%2C249&sr=8-8

Its a bit bulky (like using a school backpack crammed with books), but it is AWESOME! The internal foam dividers are thick and sturdy. I really recommend it but even if you go with something else, make sure the foam dividers inside are sturdy, most backpacks come with really flimsy ones and then you got lenses and bodies bouncing around.

For a bit more money, this is nice. I like the holster setup and it really has everything I need, including my laptop.

I am able to hold my D5100 with a 70-300, 35, 18-55, my NX100 with a 30, 16, 20-50, CPL, various batteries, sunscreen, bug spray, shutter trigger, poncho, flash, and a laptop without breaking a sweat. Great for traveling as a carry on bag.

My company got one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Case-Logic-SLRC-206-15-4-Inch-Backpack/dp/B002DW99H8/ref=sr_1_13?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1418254232&sr=1-13&keywords=camera+backpack

LOVE IT, Laptop and Rift with headphones and controller fit perfectly in it.

If you're putting it in your carry on rolling suitcase . . . just make sure to put the HMD in the middle of the suitcase and surround it with soft stuff.

Or better yet . . . just carry it in its box and put it under your seat on the airplane. I've traveled with HMDs (Including Hand-Built research grade ones) quite a bit and have had no issues with airport security.

What demos are you going to show your family?

I figured at this point it might help to just send a picture for scale. http://imgur.com/a/cfTea

You can see my current laptop, a 17" Sager. Next to it is my chromebook. Below that are my backpack which almost fits the Sager and the laptop bag that I adjusted to hold it (fits holds laptop, mouse, power brick, external drive, mouse, and tablet).
The two mice are a Zowie EC2-A and a Logitech M510. If you aren't an fps nut the cheap logitech is great and the wireless dongle fits in the mouse for transport, or can be left in the usb slot with a low profile. To the right of those are one of my external hard drives, wallet, and glasses case. The TV is 22 inches and not pictured is my wacom intuos pro medium tablet which fits perfectly on top of the Sager when I travel.

So here's what I've learned. 17 inch bags are pretty much limited to satchel style bags. Even my 15.4in bag is freaking huge on my back and I could fit all of the books I needed each day + 13 inch macbook pro in there comfortably. The 17in pc's were too much trouble to carry to/from classes, but the mbp was easy and the chromebook is so small/light I keep thinking I've lost it.

Despite being a pain, I would typically switch homes every few days and having a 17in laptop was pretty nice. I'd usually throw clothes + headset in my backpack and carry two bags wherever I was going. While cumbersome, I didn't mind carry the big laptops for lan parties or visiting friends for a night. It was mostly the school environment (switch classes, waiting around, lack of outlets, crowded table) where it got in the way.

I've got this one. It's pretty roomy, but super ugly and after two years it's starting to wear down a bit.

Something like this might be better suited for you, however.

Suggestions on a reliable backpack / bag that could hold my 15' macbook pro, camera, and a few lenses? I find myself often traveling with two separate bags and it would be nice to only have one to carry around easily.

I was looking at a Lowepro bag, Or this Case Logic bag.

Ive heard Lowepro is the brand to go with, but just wanted to get some other opinions.
